What FA do you want in the GF spot

Who do you think would fit this team as a FA GF (SF slot) especially if the Pistons get lucky and win the draft lottery and the #1 pick Victor Wembanyama

I voted for Jaylen Brown. He’s by far the most talented albeit the most unrealistic.

Cade
Ivey
Brown
Wemby
Duren

Looks great to me

Not Bridges —- he’s a scumbag.
Not Kuzma — he’s a chucker.
Jerami is almost certainly getting what he wants from PDX, because Lillard wants him back.

Maybe Jaylen in the future, but he’s only leaving Boston if HE wants to, so don’t trade assets for him. Get your pitch and cap space ready and give it a shot next summer.

Saw GF in the title of this, thought Basketball Wives. There's nothing free about those FAs!

Seriously...
If Cade weren't so busy shrinking, I'd play Cade as a wing where he could actually defend his position.
Get us a PG, not a swingman who can handle the ball.

Yeah, I'd have no problem going with a dead eye PG/SG and letting Cade defend SF. Of course that would mean a strong defensive PF to go along with Duren would be needed.

I tend to agree. I want not part of Kuz and his fashion show antics.

I’d be concerned more about Bridges immaturity from his codeine sipping music videos even more than the domestic violence. Not good culture for a young team. But he’s worth a gamble at the right price and terms.

I have a feeling that the ship has sailed with Grant.

I'm not so sure the ship has sailed with Grant relative to his perspective. Portland is going nowhere fast, Damian Lillard is getting over $45M next year, and Grant as an RFA will be looking to get $40M plus. Is it impossible from the Pistons perspective? No, but the Pistons have a some guys who will be looking for a lot of money in the next 2-3 years so I personally see locking Grant into $40M+ for the next 3-4 years as a deal that may put the Pistons into treadmill territory again.

I can agree with that. I just don’t think it’s wise to outbid Portland for his services.

I would only get Jaylen Brown if it a clean signing, don't mind waiting.

I believe what Bridges did was scumbag and he has other things that worry me. I would make sure he is repentive and has his head on straight before signing him. People make bad choices but are not bad deep down. A HC like Charles Lee could develop him into a better place in life.

25 mil per? You're not concerned offering that to him?

Of course, but he's probably the best 3&D guy on the market. 16-5-2 on a 6'9 frame is hard to find. Plus gotta overpay since he's a RFA.

What do you think of him, and what would you offer?

I'm not a stats guy - base my opinion on dudes vis the eye test. That said:

Defensive potential is obvious, his size is ideal - if coming here he's our primary wing defender.

Offensively there's a whole lot to like IMO. His shot is there, still young enough to significantly improve off the bounce (Jaylen Brown wasn't always this Brown either - he developed over time) cause he can and does attack close outs well.

Price tag is the sticking point for me cause I don't know the Nets situation or how high they're willing to go.

Assuming we get him:

Duren, Wemby, Cam, Ivey, Cade is quality assuming Wemby is even close to what people believe.

Wiseman, Stewart, Bojan & Burks is also quality to round out the rotation with

Looking at the Nets cap situation:

Simmons, Bridges, Dinwiddie, Harris, DFS, Claxton, O'Neale, Mills, Thomas, Sumner & Sharpe put them at $145+ mil

They're 15 mil under the luxury tax without Cam, Seth, Wantabe & 2 firsts.

What are the chances they're willing to match 20-25 mil on Cam?

Do they wanna pay the tax for a low playoff seed/play in team?

Elephant in the room is Ben Simmons and if they view him as a player or a monster contract they need to clear - cause they've got the means to dump him if they want.

Assuming they view Simmons as a wing they can utilise better moving forward Cam Johnson is a great target for us.

Prefer him to Grant Williams based on offensive potential alone

Grant Williams is solid… and that’s really as far as it goes. He’s not young, he’s not very athletic, he’s just smart and can shoot. Cam definitely has more potential and is worth a significantly bigger offer.

Honestly, other than being bigger and less developed, I don’t see any reason Stewart can’t do what Grant Williams does, so it’s not a big need to me. Yes, GW is clearly a better player *right now*, but we aren’t super concerned with right now, but rather a couple years from now.

A big name free agent will never come to Detroit. Please name one big name free agent who signed with the pistons as a free agent in the history of the team.

Yowza. Had their ages switched my head.

Honestly, a big offer to either isn’t super appealing with that in mind. Guess we’ll see how that shakes out.
