What current Pistons do you want to play in the Summer League in July???

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Sat May 27, 2023 2:32 pm

Of course we'll look to have #5 and #31 in the summer league if we keep those picks. I'm wondering who else we want there.

Also, do you want the new coach (assuming we hire someone before July) to coach the summer league guys as well to get to know everyone? I know this task is often left for assistants but I'm wonder if you would want our new hire to coach the young guys.

Duren (19) - He's younger than most incoming rookies, would it be wise to let him go and work on his offensive game?
Cade (21) - Normally would be a no for sure, but with him not playing basketball for so long its a maybe just for a game or two?
Ivey (21) - 2nd year but had a ton of minutes as a rookie not sure if it makes sense or not.
Hayes (21) - 4th year
Stewart (22) - 4th year
Wiseman (22) - 4th year, but has had limited NBA minutes
RJ Hampton (22) - If we retain his rights, he seems likely to go even though its a 4th year
Livers (24) - Seems old enough this won't be too beneficial at this point.

The only reason I might watch summer league, is to see whatever team Emoni winds up on and see if he actually looks he even belongs on that level

Of our current players, I’d send Duren. He’ll wreck a bunch of people, good for his confidence.

What's the rules around SL? Can you send 4th year players?

If yes I'd send all of them!

Duren, Wiseman
Stewart
Livers
Ivey, Hampton
Cade, Hayes

Eugene can attend too

Every other spot I'd fill with wings and hope that we can find a diamond

I'd only send the euro kid we have stashed. Some of our guys would be embarrassed even in the summer league, so I wouldn't send them.

Procida is not to be taken if you are or may become pregnant. Side effects include hallucinations, midnight munchies, priapism, and teal urine. Talk to your doctor before taking Procida. Yeah, I've seen the ads.

5ppg on <40% shooting in the Euroleague with no euro-3 PT range? Doesn't sound like a drug worth taking.

So you get a prolonged stiffy over Procida? Well, I'm not one to judge. Live and let live I always say.

I was just listing common side effects associated with player hype on Pistons bulletin boards. :)

Duren and Wiseman should both go. No one else needs to.

That being said, all the guys should be in camp early and getting familiar w the new coach. That’s more important than summer league

I think Cade, #5, and duren should all play. Cade needs to start knocking that rust off.

Not worth getting injured. Ivey got lucky last year that wasn’t more serious. There’s still the preaseason to get into rhythm. Practice during summer league can help. I just want to see the rookies get familiar with the team and whatever system we have.

Rather let those shins heal up extra good. That's all we need is him to play in Vegas and re-injure himself yikes

I’d like to see us do the annual Tacko Fall sighting for the summer league at Center for Detroit, and try Duran at the PF. Just for Fun

I'd only send our draft picks and guys on the roster bubble. I see Livers and Hampton with maybe Hayes (i need to see improved shooting and decision making in real time games) going. Outside of that group, does anyone really get anything out of going to the summer league?

He's not currently a Piston, but Marcus Bagley, Marvin's brother should be given an Exhibit 10 contract. He's a 6'8" forward with good athleticism, and has shown an ability to shoot 3s. There is no chance he'll be drafted, because of his limited play in college. Over his three years at Arizona State, he played in only 17 games, but if he's healthy, he's worth a try, and may be better than a lot of 1st round picks.

Last season, Marcus was suspended for a twitter post.

What did Marcus Bagley say?
Marcus Bagley says Arizona State suspended him for tweet ...

“ATHLETES please please please make a well thought through decision where you go to school,” Bagley tweeted. “These people will tell you anything to build you up just to tear you down.”Nov 30, 2022

This was directed at coach Bobby Hurley.
