OT: RIP Manocad

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Tue Jun 6, 2023 4:45 am

This has been floating in other threads, but I think it deserves its own thread. Fellow Piston fan and RealGM poster Manocad has passed away: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2294511

Truly saddening news and it’s another reminder how fragile life is. Rest in peace Manocad.

Wow, I’m really sad to hear that. I didn’t know him personally but we had a couple spirited interactions on the forum and I enjoyed giving him a hard time about his infatuation with Luca Garza.

Rest in peace.

Shocking news. He definitely brought opinion and attitude to this board. Plenty of insightful takes.

Life is short. Sounds like he had a full life. Let us all not take our days for granted.

RIP Manocad.

Yeah he does deserve his own thread!

Absolute legend of the board and those who have met him in real life speak highly of him.

Unfortunately I never got to have a beer with him but given we shared so many opinions I'm certain we would have got along big time!

I'll miss him on here.

Thoughts and prayers to those close to him

I'm not really into the confrontational sparring that Manocad so loved, so I rarely directly communicated with him, knowing that's where any online conversation with him inevitably leads. By all accounts, though, he was a wonderful person in real life. He would even often admit that his online persona was vastly different from who he was in person.

I'm thankful for his contribution to this board. He gave it a life and energy that many other boards lacked.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Regardless of how he viewed internet message boards and why he took certain people to task I do believe he always framed his position in a much better way than like minded people could.

There's a select few on this board who lost our champion. We didn't have to post much or engage cause he was that voice.

All of us are worse off now he's passed and we're just clowns on the internet.

The people who knew him are even worse off.

Absolute **** day

Haven't been coming here for long and haven't posted much, but in the short while that I have been reading this message board, I'd have to say that he was by far the most notable poster.

Sad to hear of his passing.

I'm sharing the same sentiment here as others have. I've been a long time member but rarely posted;
However one thing throughout the years that was constant on this forum was Manocad. Whether you liked him or not, he was a big part of this board for a long time.

Even the fact that he's brought many of us out of the shadows to pay our respects shows how valuable he was to this board.

RIP mate, you will be missed

Color me depressed. :( We've met in person, and he seemed like a great guy. On Saturday, I was just at an event right by where he lived and was thinking of him... had no idea until I saw this thread.

Oh wow, this is shocking. He was just posting not long ago.
Very sad to hear, my condolences to his loved ones.

Edit: Reading some stuff on the main board about him and he seemed like a great guy. I just knew him as the confrontational poster of RealGM Pistons but there seemed to be so much more to him. RIP
