Zion in a Pistons uni?

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Wed Jun 14, 2023 5:14 pm

Would you give up #5 and all our cap space for 5 years to get Zion?

Pros
If healthy, he’s a superstar at a position of need and young enough to join our core

Cons
5 years, $250M, and he can’t stay on the floor and has a questionable attitude

I think he is really available. Would you risk our future on Zion?

I wouldn’t trade any of our young core or future firsts. It is a crazy risky move.

Yes #5 for Zion is a no brainer.

There's a chance we're ****, but if he stays healthy and motivated, we would be a contender in a couple of years. Zion + Cade would be super exciting.

That's a risky move. Too risky, if you ask me!

Does Zion only get half a uniform because he'll play only half the games, at most?

It’s intriguing. Doesn’t help our spacing any

Man, some of the stuff coming out about Zion - and I don't know its veracity - is crazy. Yes, he is a top ten player when "healthy" in the physical and emotional sense, but all I see from this distance is an immature fourteen year old boy. Remember last year in playoffs, Zion was reported as physically fine to play, but wasn't feeling himself, so he sat out. Does Detroit want that?

Second, you've got to believe somebody will overpay to get him. Pistons aren't just trading their fifth pick and cap space for Zion. As much as I don't like him, I'd consider that trade, but there's no way that's all he can be had for. His contract is protected against his stupidity.

For the 5th pick i definitely take the chance. Thats the type of reward that could really lead to something.

Absolutely not. I want nothing to do with that slovenly, sloppy man-child.

Im all in. Id trade everything and everyone not name Cade. Zion is a top 5 player when he cares. Detroit just has to make him care somehow lol

Adding Zion, based on what we've seen so far, would likely kill the rebuild and leave the Pistons consistently mediocre with no cap space.

Rebuild would be over and all the chips moved to the center of the table. It would either be great or a disaster- probably not much in between

I agree he can't stay healthy. And for that reason it's a no for me, too. But who cares about shooting the ball when you're an unstoppable scorer?

If we had #2 it wouldn't be worth the risk to trade for Zion... #5 its probably worth the risk. In some ways it parallels the Blake trade as they both had just signed huge 5 year deals and both have injury history... but the difference is Zion is still just 22 years old and he has been more dominant in stretches than Blake ever was. I actually think Zion for #3 to Portland could possibly happen.

Bojan + Burks + #5 for Zion + #14 is a probably for me..... not feeling great about it but feel like its our best chance of getting a #1 franchise player type.

Bagley + Hayes + #5 for Zion is a yes from me.

Portland would be a great fit! Dame/Zion could be a legit playoff team if Zion is healthy. If he breaks down in a couple of years or for some other reason it doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter because Dame’s window is just a year or so anyway.

#5 for Zion? Surely the Pelicans say no to that.

If he can really be had for the 5th pick, that’d be a red flag for me. The Pels know him best.

For me the fact that he’s only played 33% of possible games is a major concern.
