New coach hyping up his young player is all this is.

Possibly a attempt to ease Duren's mind after the whole Ayton/Monty thing

Monty will have no issues with Duren. Monty is potentially going to have issues with Wiseman and Bagley. It'll for sure be something to watch how long of a leash those guys have with Monty this season.... assuming they are all here once the season starts.

I can see Monty really challenging Duren. Seems like he did that with Ayton and he couldn’t handle it. I think Duren has a better mindset.

Monty is going to be straight up and hold people accountable. Casey yelled a lot but always seemed nice about it. I don’t think Monty will sugar coat things.

I think it’s going to get feisty.

Duren strikes me as a pretty coachable player. Heck, here's hoping Monty's right!

Hopefully it means we'll actually use Duren better offensively.

Cade or Ivey & Duren PnR with decent spacing would be good

I was high on Duren well before the draft, and when the Pistons got him, I was elated, but top 10 player? That's a stretch.

With that said, he is the polar opposite of Ayton in terms of attitude, and ferocity so he is going to get a huge opportunity to show out.

I also expect Durens passing to be utilized far more as well, as he showed flashes of it throughout the season, but was never put in a position to capitalize on it, in Casey's highschool offensive system.

Just having an actual offense will help this team immensely.

 Shaun Kemp

Top 10 seems crazy but Duren is young and has unmatched athleticism. Now he has a good coach.

eh - can't imagine Duren is ever going to be a good enough scorer for anyone to consider him top 10, but I could see him up there as the top defensive and rebounding center and making a few all star games if the team is good.

He's still super raw on offense it will be interesting to see what he works on adding to the bag in year two... perhaps a short jumper or other post up move.

12 and 12 this year isn't out of the picture if he gets 30 minutes per game.... its getting from the 12 to 18 point range and then the team winning that could push him into all-star territory. Jarret Allen was just an all-star for Cleveland in 2022 so it certainly something that you don't have to be a 25+ PPG scorer as a center to be an all-star.

Sounds like his way of saying, "I had to coach Ayton, who was being outrun by Jokic" and so Duren has every chance to be. He had a very good rookie season, and I hope Monty wants him to dominate inside. Dunk everything. Lay-up, half-hook. No 3s... Rim protector/rebounder, and I saw him make enough good passes.

Idk if he became the best defensive center in th league and averaged 15 and 15 where would that rank? 20 and 10 and best defensive center, I’d think it have to be close to top 10. From what I’ve seen from him he has the tools, now will he be able to do it idk. Let’s hope.

Yea can definitely see Duren becoming an all star as a top 30 player, but top 10 is all-nba that’s beating out Embid or Jokic.

I think Duren will work his as off and earn those 30 mins a game and Wiseman probably gets regulated to whatever’s left over. I’m expecting him averaging a double with over a block a game. 12 and 12 sounds about right.

Yeah, seems like the reasonable (if optimistic) goal is to be like Bam, and Bam, while great, isn't top 10.

Duren is good and he was the youngest player in the league.

It was a crime to relegate him to the bench.

Goal is for him to be Dwight Howard like.
