Houston and Harden

I think Harden is not serious about Houston and just using them for leverage. But I hope I’m wrong. Houston has all that cap space and rather than them using it on trying to get Cam Johnson, they can just give it to Harden.

That is an ideal scenario. Utah just used a good chunk of cap space to get John Collins let’s hope that Houston uses theirs to land Harden or even Kyrie.

I really don't think the Harden thing is real. Why would he go back? They risk alienating all of their youth if they're only going to be on the background playing Harden ball

Totally agree, but if Philly doesn’t give him his big bag, Houston seems like the only alternative

Question for those in the know;
If the Pistons are the only suitor, and make that big offer for Cam, how long is the money tied up for? Max length? Days? Weeks? More then a month?

When a restricted free agent wants to sign with another team, he and the new team sign an offer sheet. The terms of that deal — which must be for at least two seasons — are given to the player’s original team, which has two days to match. If the team matches, then the player is under contract with his original team, but at the principal terms of the offer sheet. If the team passes on matching within two days, the player is under contract with the new team.

I believe teams have three days to match. Also, I believe they are changing the rule so teams have a brief window to talk with their own FAs before new teams can not sure if that is starting this year or next.

That’s even better it’s been shortened a few times over the years. Less back breaking if a team waits til the last minute to match you can still have some backup plans. Almost could be a good things if other teams jump and spend right away we could still have a ton of space if the Nets end up matching. Almost forces you to be patient and see if there is any bargains out there if the Nets decide to pay Cam.

I was watching/listening to an NBA podcast earlier with Brian windhorst and I believe he said the RFA offer sheet time was reduced to 24 hours.

Yeah I don't think the NBA has updated their website but the new CBA in April has reduced it to 24 hours now.

He likes the Houston nightlife better than Philly.
