Pistons waive Eugene Omoruyi

bad news livers should have been cut. Detroit, Omoruyi averaged 9.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and nearly a steal per game.
Defence Wins Championships,we need to return to the Bad Boy era.

Open up a roster spot? We must be making another move.

Not necessarily. I read a tweet that said they needed to waive him to have enough cap space to absorb both Harris & Morris.

They can still resign him for the minimum after those transactions.

Didn't we just pick up his team option?

It’s pretty surprising that they didn’t wait until closer to the 6th to see if they could manage something else.

I can’t disagree.

What’s the worst that could happen, we sign one of the remaining FAs to an overpriced one year deal to meet the 90% minimum of the cap rule?

I liked him very much. I wish there's a way for him to come back.

Eugene Omoruyi — He’s always moving on the court and he can make the right pass, which makes him a valuable wing at either forward spot.

Bird Rights on Rui
Early Bird Rights on Reaves

Think Prince & Vincent are signed via exceptions.

Reddish is on a minimum deal

They still have D'Lo to deal with but if Vincent is the non tax paying MLE they'll have to stay under the first tax apron. IF Vincent is the tax payer MLE D'Lo's starting salary is irrelevant

We needed to waive him to complete our trades, we needed the cap space. We can sign him again for the minimum. It made no sense to pick his option in the first place.

Quick math suggests Vincent got the non tax payer MLE then given how little Russell got.

Yep. This is what I think will happen. Renounce the Rhoden qualifying offer and all other cap holds next, let the two trades happens to absorb into cap space, and then have two spots left which will likely be a free agent signed using the cap space exception and Omoruyi brought back on a minimum deal in that order.

Assuming no more trades of course.

We should have renounced everyone except Burks & Livers to start with! Especially once we knew we weren't going after Cam Johnson.

I'll never understand why we didn't do that - unless it's a favour to a agent

Lakers also got Hayes from the Pelicans for next to nothing. Not sure how he couldn't get a better deal but whatever

It doesn't really matter in the end in terms of cap holds. If a deal is agreed upon it's not going to matter if they have to wait a day to officially sign to let the team renounce cap holds.
