One last thread generate a little board discussion before we ramp up into summer league this weekend.

Which of these Bojan trades would you make? You can select up to 5 options.

1. Bojan + Bagley to Miami for Lowry(expiring) + 2nd round pick
2. Bojan to New York for Evan Fournier(expiring) + our first round pick back
3. Bojan to Dallas for Tim Hardaway Jr (two years left $17.9, $16.2) + future Dallas 1st (2026 top 10 protected)
4. Bojan + Killian Hayes to Chicago for Lonzo Ball($20.4, $21.4) + Patrick Williams + 1st round pick (Portlands 2024 top 14 protected)
5. Bojan to Atlanta for DeAndre Hunter + 2024 1st round pick (Kings pick, top 14 protected)
I wouldn't do any of these trades.

The best trade by far is #2. Why?

Because it opens up all of our first round picks.

We can then trade our expirings and 2-3 FRPs for a star player like Siakam for example. OG is good for 1-2 picks. Lavine level. Ingram could easily ask for a trade and we are set to make the trade happen. So BY FAR #2 is a BIG YES YES YES.

Fournier is not a bad player. With Monty you never know what you can get. Fournier can easily become valuable by trade deadline as he is an expiring contract.

I’m against trading any future firsts to star hunt until we have at least one homegrown all-star on the roster. Trading for a star only works if you’re pairing them with one you already have, IMO.

I do think Bojan and Burks could be parts of offseason trades. If Philly wants Dame, we're the perfect third/fourth team to bring in because of solid vets on expiring deals. If it meant getting Dame, someone might bite on Wiseman or Bagley to boot.

The second one is an easy yes . Very easy. 5th one is a "probably"- if the Kings are a fluke that could easily end up netting us a mid-rounder next season.

The first one is silly- don't dilute the value of Bojan by attaching him to Bagley. Number four I'm somewhat iffy on- does that Portland pick eventually turn into second rounders if it doesn't transfer after x number of years? Because that one feels like second rounders to me if that's the case. Patrick Williams is appealing though.

The Dallas pick feels like too deferred a payoff in number three.

The 5th one, like the 4th one, I'm conflicted on.

So yeah, hard no on number one. Yes to number two and five. The third and the fourth I could probably talk myself into if they happened, but right now I'm not sold.

Bojan is even easier to trade now with a year of Joe Harris available. Bojan is a better creator off of closeouts and off the dribble in general, but Harris is just as good of a shooter and is significantly better defensively (still below average, but a lot better).

We need shooters, not creators. That’s why the Ausar pick irritated me. We have Cade and Ivey and Morris to handle the ball, and now Thompson, too. Guys like Sasser and Harris are great fits as threats on jumpers… and hopefully Livers and Stew can be as well. Bojan’s offensive diversity has good value, but less for us. I’m with shipping him out ASAP, before he picks up a nearly inevitable old man strain of some kind and misses a month and tanks his value.

In order of preference

# 4 - I value Williams and a 1st the most.
# 5 - Hunter/1st would be nice, doubt ATL does it
# 2 - would be nice to get our own pick back.
# 1 - only net a 2nd, but get rid of Bagley
# 3 - Hardaway/1st looks like a salary dump trade, no need to lose Bogey in this deal.

I think some people would be surprised to see what Bojan is actually worth.

Its not like Troy pulled some kind of wizardry and pulled the wool over Ainge's eyes and plucked a high value asset away from Utah for scraps. Last summer Ainge hung a for sale sign around Bojan's neck and it stayed there for awhile. Nobody wanted to offer anything of decent value. So Ainge just took Olynyk (a guy he has a lot of familiarity and history with because he drafted him.)

Bojan is a + shooter but he doesn't offer a whole lot more than that. And he's completely wretched on the defensive end of the floor. This dude is 34 years old, and will be entering his 10th season. The NBA knows who this guy is. Putting up good numbers while having a neon green light playing for a godawful team is not going to inflate his worth/view around the league.

Bojan does hold + value, but its not substantial.

Ball is essentially an expireing deal since he is out next season. Its a big win for Gores as insurance pays him 16 million.

Probably the one to get our 1st back just in case a star becomes available

I agree but first you need your first round pick back to get the option

I wouldn't do any of these trades.

No on #1 - as we know seconds are readily available and you're diluting Bojan's value by attaching the extra year of Bagley

Yes on #2 as we get our pick back which potentially opens up a lot of doors for us.

Yes on #3 as I believe that pick from Dallas would convey

Unsure on #4 as that Portland pick likely doesn't convey and you don't state if it remains a first or does it turn into seconds? Ball might be done and Williams is a role player but the pick is the deal breaker for me

No on #5 - not a fan of Hunter

I’d really not take on extra years to move BB. Only trade 2 makes sense for me. I doubt that we get that type of return. My guess is that they’d want Stewart thrown in to make it happen.

Our first is not really all that valuable though as some teams as its still heavily protected. It can't even be a top 9 pick.

Protected 1-18 in 2024
Protected 1-13 in 2025
Protected 1-11 in 2026
Protected 1-9 in 2027 -> Detroit instead sends a second rounder in 2027 if not conveyed.

It’s funny- I’m not sure the other teams give us ANY of these deals. And I’m sure they don’t give us the ones I’m sure I like.

It’s easy to look at a 21 PPG score who shoots well from outside and say he should get a haul, but if that were true he wouldn’t still be here. He’s 34 years old and is a bad defender.

Usually the deals happen when a team is in desperate need of cap space to sign a player or keep him. That’s been happening every year. Toronto need to tank. i doubt we get him but Siakam can easily be had for expirings and FRPs. Nobody wants to give up the picks only desperate teams. If you ask me Bogan is more valuable to us than other teams this year. We need him to win games.

IF we were getting "good" offers Bojan would have been dealt at the deadline or at the Draft.

I'd happily take #2 or #4 but Chicago is not giving up PWill for Bojan and Killian Hayes, let alone adding a draft pick. Or maybe they are. I mean, they are running it back. If they're not blowing it up, they need SOMETHING to try to reach higher. They're just in a really bad spot overall.
