Kendrick Perkins Picks Pistons With Best Young Core

Post#1 » by MortSahlfan » Mon Jul 17, 2023 10:19 pm

After watching SL.. He and a few others on ESPN and NBA TV think we have one of the best young cores in the league. I hope they are right.

29:48 mark - watch it now, before it's taken down!

A broken clock is right twice a day. I'm not even sure he is right but like the sentiment because I'm a biased fan.
Why oh why does it have to come from a guy who shouldn't have a job at ESPN.

He's literally awful. It's actually worse that this comes out of his mouth as you can rightfully dismiss 99.9% of what he says as utter nonsense. Then again you can say that about most guys there.

I can’t stand him. He’s a goofy try hard.

But I guess you can accept compliments from anyone.

What’s the opposite of a vote of confidence?

Obviously, Isiah Thomas on NBA TV thinks we have a great young core, but he's a homer... I've heard over a handful mention the Pistons during the draft and SL... I also know that Ernie Johnson can vote for season ending awards, but the players - Kenny, Chuck, and Shaq, cannot. Rachel Nichols still had a vote despite losing her show.

But... any attention is good, because our players need a fire under their ass, and they seem to really spend a lot of time on their phones and "social" media, and any attention might get more fans, hence, more wins. It's time to start winning.

This makes me feel slightly worse about our prospects.

Hope he’s right.

No such thing as bad press.

I appreciate Kendrick Perkins. He’s a fan of the Pistons organization and I’ve heard multiple compliments from him. JJ Reddick is also a big fan of the Piston’s prospects.

These kids just need a whole year to grow and they’ll eventually figure it out. Play In is the goal and I think with Monte Morris and Harris addition we can get there since we have the shooting. It’s the defense that needs work and I think with Ausar and Stewart the only hinge is the centers and that’s all on Mark Bryant to develop them.

Mark Bryant has worked with several good centers the last 20 years like Sabonis, Ayton, and Steven Adams. I don’t see how our bigs can’t get better seeing they have all the physical tools. They just need more awareness and reps.

Yeah he IMO is one of the worst guys on TV doing NBA coverage.

IF Perkins was the only one saying it I'd be terrified cause he's one of if not the worst dudes on ESPN.

But JJ Redick said it too and I usually value his opinion so whatever.

It's not to get some mention on a national level for a change

They let go of Jalen Rose, yet keep this guy.

I would rather watch paint dry than listen to Kendrick Perkins carry on.

Cause Jalen isn't controversial

I can't recall any galatically stupid takes from Rose.

Perkins? Almost every time I hear something he's said I just shake my head.

Perkins can be amusing but he's no nostradamus (let alone an infallible NBA analyst). In fact, he predicted that Miami would win the finals going away. He was adamant at the time of the prediction. Utter nonsense. So, he prattles on. I don't think it detracts from what's fairly obvious the Pistons young core is athletic and talented. If Cade reaches his potential, the team will be transcendent.

Jalen Rose is more expensive than Kendrick Perkins. That’s for sure he’s an outstanding analyst.

For fans who don’t know. Disney is selling everything including ABC and excluding ESPN. ESPN is the only channel they want to keep.

Why?

Americans are turning off cable. Simple as that. They realize it’s a waste of time with all the other streaming devices. The days of cable are actively dying.

I give him respect for calling out the Heat as the most dangerous team in the East to play against for the Celtics. Heat ended up beating the Celtics so he was right on point with that one. Kendrick isn’t always coming out of the left field. He’s got SOME good points. The worst point he’s ever had is racism on Embiid. Jokic IS the best. He swept Lebron after not picking him up in the all star game and he swept everyone pretty much. I’m all in on Jokic winning it again next year if they are healthy. No team matches the Nuggets at the moment not the Suns not Warriors not Lakers. Nuggets got themselves a bunch of champions. Only way is up next year barring any significant injuries Bruce Brown or not.

That's accurate and I only know that as a semi-active wrestling fan.

Ratings used to be a thing. Now? It's a different world.

Live events are the only things that matter - bit it doesn't mean people watch it live! They'll stream it later when they've got time.

We're all time poor.

I can't believe they let JVG go.. It was the main reason I'd watch the game beyond the first/last few minutes.

And yes, JJ Redick and handfuls of others on TV (seen by millions)

One of the few times I've ever seen the Pistons mentioned on this show (outside of the usual trade/FA announcements).

Also, I'm high on Ausar but I think making an All-NBA team in three years is a pretty lofty expectation!

it's good that the pistons were even mentioned at all and i really gave my best effort to take perk seriously but when he listed wiseman first i just shook my head. cade was like the second last player he mentioned.

same, i think if anything making an all-defense team in 3 years is more likely.
