Zavier Simpson Signed?

Post#1 » by Spider156 » Wed Jul 26, 2023 2:45 am

One year deal

https://hoopshype.com/2023/07/25/zavier-simpson-signs-with-detroit/

I hope it’s not true and if it is I hope it means Killian is finally off the team.

I’ll take any trade to straighten out our roster at this point.

Is that old news rehashed? He had signed on to be on summer league team and then went elsewhere for that iirc.

Our first free agent signing of the year! (I'm guessing no one won the prize).

Probably an Exhibit-10 deal, if true.

We signed him to boost Killian's ego, I reckon.

We’re getting deep on guards. Let them fight it out.

the addition of Simpson makes no sense whatsoever. As much as I admire his tenacity and talent, he adds nothing to the Pistons' talent pool. Is this merely a favor or pay off to someone? wouldn't be so bad if he's the 3rd two-way contract. otherwise, strikes me as odd.

Could be a non guaranteed camp deal. Or if it is a guaranteed deal for the league min, it could be because he's willing to spend a bunch of time down in the G league this season. Plenty of teams essentially use that 15th spot on a guy to send down to the G League a bunch but could be called up if something crazy happens. Not every FA is willing to sign on for the min to spend a bunch of time in the G League so you have a smaller pool of players willing to take that on.

Simpson and Livers also played 3 years of college basketball together.

Maybe they'll play together again in the g-league.

Simpson was pretty terrible in his limited Summer League minutes this year….waiting to see what details come out on him and this supposed deal.

Does he have the same agent as Livers?

Does the FO think enough of Livers as a person to give a ex team mate a camp invite?

Cause I hope we're not filling our last roster spot with this dude.

Is Eugene still available? Wonder why we don't just bring him back

I actually really don’t like Simpson at all. He’s a horrible basketball player.

As it stands now, I am SERIOUSLY doubting Weaver as a good general manager. Past lottery drafting I feel his other moves have been lateral at best. His best trades have been Bogan and Monte Morris. Maybe Harris IF he ever plays for us.

I don’t think Harris sees the court otherwise Ausar or Burks is out. Not enough minutes. I like the depth, I don’t care much for it if you’re making a 20m contract as a third string player or a two way player like Burks be forced to sit on the bench as a third string. The roster is not balanced right at all.

You got Stewart who is a small ball center get paid like a fifth option when he’s not a 6th or 7th option.
You got Bagley who gets paid the same given the full MLE just like Stewart when he’s not a 6th but maybe 7th option since he’s better than Stewart let’s be real here.
You got Wiseman whom I HOPE never EVER sees the PF position. I mean this kid sucks. He’s inefficient like an ARE-tard inside the paint, can’t and WONT pass the ball, can’t shoot the ball, he’s got complete tunnel vision worse than Rodney Stuckey. I mean Wiseman is a bigger bust than Bagley is. He’s got NO awareness defensively he can’t block anything serious, he’s a child on the court it’s embarrassing. I hate saying all that cuz I was a big fan of the trade but the sour truth is he SUCKS. He’s a horrible all around basketball player. He’s not worth the second pick and he showed NOTHING in summer league. This kid sucks man, I like his game but it’s’ for children. You need to be making 70% FG inside the paint or anything close to it. Otherwise shoot or pass the ball and he won’t do either one. I’m out on Wiseman. I’d trade him quickly. This is a bigger bust than Nerlens Noel.

Oh let’s add another point guard when we have Cade Ivey Ausar Morris Sasser Killian and now…Simpson?

I’m one year away from jumping on the bandwagon of firing weaver.

This is a horrendous roster outside his lottery picks. This is bad.

Cade
Ivey
Ausar
Bojan
Duren

Stewart
Morris
Burks
Harris

IF that's the rotation - or very close to it - do you still feel the same?

And has there been more detail in relation to this Simpson contract?
