Raising a puppy. Had him for four weeks. Lot of work. By the time the Pistons get started again, he’ll need less contact supervision and training. Good timing.

Trying to enjoy the MI summer, best time of the year. I play disc golf. Won a couple tournaments recently but Im not a young guy anymore so I'm taking a break to rest my back/hips. Couple of younger guys were mad that I won these two big tournaments back to back - I told them I'm 15 years older! If your dad is still kicking your butt, need some practice buddy!

I had 2 people in my circle of friends die this spring - both from cancer. One hid it really well and didnt let anymore know. Have to enjoy life, not sure how long we get.

I have a couple friends in some real bad headspace and its not easy to help them get out of it. Divorces, bad job prospects, death of loved ones - not easy times!

I just took on Person Trainer position at a new gym, it’s new work to me, I figure I’ll know if it’s a worthwhile move for me by the time the season starts. I already manage a restaurant at night so I’m taking on a load for me. The team Carry’s me through a lot of the year, think how much happier I would be if we were winning. I’m trying new things at 45. Let’s hope for 32 wins that will feel like a winning season for us after these last couple years.

Man. I have a 'puppy' who is going on 10 months who still can't be trusted completely to roam out of sight. It may depend on the breed though. Mine is a miniature schnauzer which apparently is a 'working dog'. Sure enough if he doesn't get enough stimulation he does fun things like treat my couch as a giant chew toy... (I *always* have rawhide-ish bones available which luckily seem to be a preferred alternative).

Mine’s not even five months yet. English Cocker. Our second one, the first died (on my birthday!) last year. Beautiful dog, very loving, but still a complete menace when he gets worked up. Technically a bird hunting dog, but that’s not us.

He won’t be fully trained by basketball season, but right now if I leave him alone it’s open season on the furniture and my wife’s shoes and clothes. Still has to sleep in his “house” or he’ll pee in a corner somewhere. That kinda stuff. Once teething is over, he’ll chill a bit. I live in SF proper, and he was born on a farm, so the outside world still intimidates him. Working on that, too.

Getting old sucks, man. I’m 52. Parents health is starting to slip, and I don’t live anywhere near either of them. It’s hard. Starting to hear about old friends dying or having troubles as well.

It’s hard to understand middle and old age until you are there. There are some definite advantages, but all kinds of new issues, too.

I'll be 46 next month so yeah, I'm going through some of the things you are saying. Some are good, some are terrible. I guess that's life.

I'm now 47!

My Dad, mum, brother have all passed away in the last 10 years. Poured myself into my career which meant the Mrs left and took the kids. The 3 of them are now teenagers and don't wanna hang with Dad.

Changing careers now is interesting but about time I actually take a step back and enjoy life a little more.

Thought we could use a thread where it's not basketball and more about us as human beings and how we're going on the planet.

But as several of you mentioned, we shouldn’t take our days for granted. My father passed and mom needs a lot of help even though she’s in assisted living. My wife passed a few years ago with early onset Alzheimer’s. So the best I can do is try and get the most out of every day.

Very big year for me and mine. I’m in my mid-40’s.

Oldest child just had a daughter, making me a proud Grandpa.

Our middle one graduate HS and she’s going off to college as a student-athlete (soccer). Just moved her into her dorm last weekend.

Youngest is still in HS (going into his Soph year).

Sometimes I forget people have been posting right along with me for the 20 years I've been here.(forgetting about the age part of it) hearing personal stories is a little surreal.

Even though we are all older, got things going on, it seems like the Pistons losing is more difficult then when I was in my 20's. Probably because when your young, your more easily distracted.

A winning season(relative to the past few seasons)sure would make the winter easier to bear, that's for sure.

I’m sure we have another championship in our lifetimes. Hopefully we don’t have to live to be 100 to see it

Thx. I certainly don’t wait - been skiing 25 days, to Egypt, Maui, Michigan, bike ride down the Cali coast, and backpacking in Yosemite all this year. And working on my Black Belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu. So life isn’t bad.

I've been having a chill summer. After the kids mom passed away ive been raising all 3 on my own. Things are starting to look up though and a new depression medication seems to be working well.

Been just trying to stay sober (was drinking heavily) and focus on my own mental/physical health for once.

Feeling positive at the moment.
