Buddy Boeheim resigning with Detroit
Buddy Boeheim is re-signing with the Detroit Pistons, his agent, Drew Gross of Roc Nation Sports, told ESPN. Boeheim appeared in 10 games with DET on a rookie two-way deal last year and 18 games with their G League affiliate, where he averaged 12.1 ppg on 37.4% from 3.

These moves are so lame. Weaver chooses his favorites and gets stuck on them. I’d rather have resigned Omoruyi

How is it stupid? Dude can hit from 3.
Eugene might have been a good effort guy but I'm not worried about end of bench towel wavers

Re: Buddy Boeheim resigning with Detroit
It's an Exhibit 10 contract.
It would have been stupid to sign him to even a two-way deal because he has nothing in the realm of NBA upside. He can shoot, but that's literally all he can do at the NBA level. He's a short-armed, unathletic player who can't defend at the NBA level, has a bad handle, and can't create a whit for himself or for others, and he struggles to even get open off the ball against NBA opposition. That's why he played a total of 90 minutes across the entire season for an injury-added 17-win team.

It’s a roster spot (granted, an E-10) going to someone as an organizational favor. There’s no point. Buddy isn’t a NBA player, for the reasons Crymson mentioned. Sure, it’s a long shot to get something useful out of the “extra” contracts, but this removes any chance.
Not a huge deal or anything, but still stupid.

It's a training camp deal. He most likely will not be on the roster on opening night.

He's just a warm body for training camp. It really doesn't matter until roster cuts. Not going to be happy if he's in that final 15 though.

It IS stupid. He can't do a damn thing. It's funny if a guy can hit a 3, he can suck at everything else and be a loved Piston.
At least we don't have to worry about him demanding a trade to Miami.

Who cares? You guys get worked up over the smallest of things. First Zavier Simpson and now this, it's a warm body for Training Camp nothing more nothing less.

Re: Buddy Boeheim resigning with Detroit
It’s a organizational favor, but it’s not a big one, he can shoot, a chance a one more year is not really big deal on a exhibit 10, coming from a basketball family I’m sure he offers other good things behind the scenes. As his own career evolves, the Pistons will be his home of the NBA, and that’s probably worth more than most exhibit ten players will bring.

Re: Buddy Boeheim resigning with Detroit
I don’t think it’s “stupid.”
But I also don’t think it’s smart.
Exactly how many SG/SF wings to we need to invest in?
We now have Simpson (PG) and Buddy (SG/SF) as Exhibit-10 guys
And we have Rhoden (SG/SF) and Cazalon (SG/SF) as our 2-way guys.
Are we not interested in developing any other positions?

If a championship caliber team can afford a roster spot for T. Antetokounmpo we can afford a roster spot for Boeheim. This is fine, guys.

I will never understand the amount of effort this fanbase spends on discussing the scrubbiest of role players.NYPiston wrote:Who cares? You guys get worked up over the smallest of things. First Zavier Simpson and now this, it's a warm body for Training Camp nothing more nothing less.

Point taken, but poor example.
The championship calibur team can afford Thanos because it's a prerequisite for keeping it's championship calibur player - his brother - happy & content with the team.

I’d much rather give the roster spot to Cannen.
