How many games will you watch this year?

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Sat Aug 19, 2023 1:28 am

Obviously this depends on how good we are, so it would probably be best to begin with your expectations. It would also be cool to know - how many will you watch in person vs on TV.

I figure us for 35 wins, have some tense games trying to make the playin, and end up back in the lottery.

Since I live in Cali, I’ll make one home game on a trip back to Michigan, and I’ll make the road game at the Warriors (Wiseman’s revenge game  ).

I’ll actually get a TV package this year, and watch 50-60 4th quarters after having zipped through the first 3.

I usually watch at least 65/70 per year depending on what I have going on.

Last year I probably watched 50 games or so. I’m hoping they can keep me engaged til at least March

I play NBA 2k and get League Pass thru the expensive edition. I planned to watch everything available last year (which is most games, since I’m in SF and we’re never on national TV), and I watched everything until Cade got hurt. I knew we’d be really bad and lost interest, so I only saw about 30 games total.

Same plan this year. If we’re even mildly competitive I’ll watch everything I can, 70+ games, on my iPad, while also playing 2k. :)

Didn't know that came with league pass. Are you talking about the $150 version? Never owned league pass before but do games get blacked out or whatever?

Just started last year for the $150 edition. Given that it’s full League Pass, not just pick one team, it’s a really great deal. You essentially get 2k for free.

They black out all nationally televised games (available three hours later) and all local broadcasts (three DAYS later), so it isn’t for watching your local market team. I dgaf about the Warriors, so that doesn’t matter to me.

All of them, per usual including pre-season.

Wellllll, I will at least start them, and as soon as they start to get buried, I'll switch to a different game. Last year, I did that a TON.

I may actually miss some pre-season games this year, depending on if internet access has improved in the north Atlantic.

Live, or recorded the morning after? Start to finish, or does a "garbage time" mercy rule apply? Do games between other teams and the playoffs count? Heck, I don't know how many games I watch. Over half the Pistons starts, sure that sounds right. Beyond that? Apparently, I can't count that high. :) I will wait to watch if my alternative is Mark Champion on the radio. Seems like a nice guy, but he has a voice made for football and inducing sleep -- bad in a car. I've only physically been at a couple games total since COVID-19, where in the past it was 3-4 games per year... still avoiding big crowds (though that doesn't apply to most Pistons games of late, alas).

i'll watch as much as i can as long as cade is healthy and/or we're remotely competitive.

how is the quality of league pass now? i had it a few years ago but it consistently lagged and just made it a brutal viewing experience. i'd often have to find 3rd party streams and they'd have HD, lagless streams so i've just stuck with that. it was the exact same situation with DAZN (canada's way to get the NFL's version of league pass) so i've gone to 3rd party streams there as well.

i don't mind paying for a service as long as it works... hopefully they've improved it.

Last year was my first time, so I don’t have a point of reference, but it seemed good to me. Choice of broadcasts (home or away) or the radio feed. Didn’t notice lagging much at all.

I’ve only been able to watch about 5 the past two years as I have moved to Tampa. I’ve mostly watched highlights and condensed games :(.

So I've been subscribed to league pass for around 8 years, maybe 10, I honestly cannot remember anymore.

It is absolutely worth it now. Not only did they slash the price, (230$ to 150$ THE STREAMING BATTLE HAS BEGUN)the bit rate seems improved, and last year, I had the least amount of buffering, stutters, or black screens. I have almost gig internet(don't have fiber access at house, but I get 600 down)so any issues were always NBA related.

If your an absolute basketball junkie, it is worth it. Not only is there at least one game on every damn night, you can watch games from last year, 2 years ago, 5 years ago.

The difference between league pass now, and just 5 years ago, is monumental.

25-40 regular season games, but mostly parts of them.

At least 5 spurs games, because Victor.

At least 5 rockets games, because I’m thinking train wreck.

And a good chunk of the playoffs

Being in Australia it's more difficult to watch our games but I'll make the effort if our guys perform.

As much as I preach patience last season was brutal. Still watched over 50 games before jumping on the Jimmy/Heat bandwagon cause the last 6 monutes of that Bulls v Miami play in game was intense!

Really looking forward to turning the corner this season though and starting the long climb back to relevance.

50-60 probably. I watch the replays now because fast forward has spoiled me.

This will be my busiest NBA season yet.

Hope it’s over 20. I’m hoping I’ll WANT to watch them. I often haven’t the last couple years.

Regardless if the Pistons make it or not, I record every playoff game and watch every game, although not for the entirety. Watch while riding stationary bike. Usually first quarter while fast forwarding ads, then ff again to the end of the half and end of the 3rd. If it’s within 10 points, I watch the 4Q. If it’s over, I ff until it does get to within 10 or the game ends. At least that’s how I do it w first round and lots of games. I watch ECF and WCF and Finals in their entirety.

See, what im thinking here, is that much like the NBA awards, to retain being a mod, you should have to watch at least 65 Pistons games.

You get your ass in front of that screen!

65 games last year would have been C&U punishment.

i'm curious, how many people stay up and watch the west coast games that start at 10 PM EST and end ~ 1AM?

i had a bad habit of doing it in cade's rookie season but last season i was fine missing the game. this season i'll *hopefully* have that bad habit again.
