Who gets the backup minutes?

I'd like to see what it loooks like giving them both some minutes first of all. Maybe as a pairing they could prove a real handful against other team's second units.

Is "none of the above" an option? They both have been horrible defensively and had 1 good offensive game each.

If we have to bet - probably wiseman at this point. He looks lost out there still , but he's just so long that he can make plays almost on accident.

Keep both and play both, even if it's alternating first half/second half, or one day on/one day off.

Neither one can stay healthy for a whole season, so keep both ready to take over when the other ends up injured.

Lean athletic centers tend to get hurt easily, so I'm not blaming them specifically for their injuries - it's just the nature of the position.

I say give them both opportunities over the early part of the season and see if one stands out as the "better" option. With their injury histories it might just work itself out anyway.

Bagley seems like a better player. Wiseman seems lost but has more athleticism. I’d prefer Bagley at this point. Hopefully they both play well enough that we could trade one as a positive asset.

Since when is 4 of 5 from the floor, 1 of 1 from 3, 4 offensive rebounds & 2 assists in 20 minutes not a good offensive game?

Both, Bagley can play the 4 a little and the odds are really high 55/82 games one of our bigs is injured.

When you watch him play, and it's just not that impressive? He actually made things happen in the first game. He was a non-factor in the second.

I like Bagley. He's flawed, but he's played hard since arriving in Detroit and brings efficient offense. He sucks at D and that isn't likely to change, but as our 4th big that's not a deal-breaker for me. Improving his 3pt% would definitely help boost his value.

I still don't know about Wiseman. Need larger sample size. Something about the way he moves that I dislike. Bad spacial awareness, body control or something, I can't quite put my finger on it. But he has showcased an ability to put up some numbers. He's got size but like... does that matter? Is that a thing we're caring about? Size? I'm pretty "meh" on him right now, but we'll see.

I like Bagley more because he’s more consistent. I think he’s also more talented at scoring. But he’s also a bit smaller and defensively isn’t really any better than Wiseman. Only thing he’s got is he’s played like 4 times more games than Wiseman so it’s unfair to compare really at this point. I’d give Wiseman half a year and yeah he’s that raw along with Killian. The truth is Bagley WAS Wiseman 2-3 years ago getting hurt not playing. It goes to show you how young we still are as a roster. The truth is we have one more piece to the core getting added next year and that’s fine, we just wanna see growth. Well we could be really good the last 10 games vs the first 10 games and vice versa, it’s a long season, enjoy the ride, we’ll be seeing many players have breakout games dispersed across the months. Enjoy the shining moments, winning comes with experience on defense. Not many teams can have this many players with great potential that can all of the sudden start playing well. By the trade deadline I expect Weaver to make a significant trade for a good veteran younger than Bojan. The truth is not all of our players are going to come back next year as most are expiring so we have a lot to see unfold this year. Weaver is smart to keep the cap sheet clean.

I was excited and I’m not excited anymore because defensively Wiseman is abysmal. However, I think Bey was gonna cost too much anyway and he didn’t play good defense and move the ball well. He shot the ball well but so do others and they’ll cost less. The way I saw the Wiseman trade also is it meant Bagley’s time is over. But that hasn’t happened, in fact, Stewart got an extension. My timing for the trade and when it completes is if we 1. Extend wiseman 2. Trade him by the trade deadline or 3. He expires which I doubt this would happen to a young 7 footer that can score and move like that. Otherwise? Bagley’s gotta go by this trade deadline which I can see happening if he takes the backup role, his value goes up. So Wiseman could be a good trade if we can flip Bagley so there’s a lot to unfold ahead of us.

It's Bagley, provides a really solid scoring option off the bench. Hopefully a few of his minutes overlap with Cade as they seem to have good chemistry.

Wiseman will end up getting reasonable minutes anyway due to inevitable injures.

Put them in a cage match with former #2 Darko as ref. Sell PPV. Whoever wins, lives. Whoever loses, dies.

We don't have to overcomplicate this.

As much as I would love to see this battle happen, I'd like to go with Bagley. I think that Bagley can give up 10 mins a night to spell JD. I am not sure what Wiseman's future is at this point. I can say it is not Detroit. I would like to move him for whatever we can get for him.

Yeah, I'll go with Bagman over Wisely.

Bagley is the better player right now. That's not saying much, as he's utterly hopeless on defense and is nowhere near good enough on offense to compensate.

Wiseman is more of a blank check. He's bad right now, but there's the possibility that he can improve on both ends. Bagley's defense is a lost cause; after five years in the NBA, he's still bad enough to fully undermine a defense by simply being on the floor.

The potential might be there for Wiseman, and it isn't for Bagley. I'd say that gives Wiseman the edge.
