Monday 6pm is Deadline for Extension

Including Killian Hayes.. Deni Avdija just took a 4-yr/55 million. We could probably pay less. I would even pay that amount.

No way I'd do it with Wiseman. I'm not a believer.

And some others, including ex-Pistons Bey

I view Wiseman as an expiring deal.

Killian? Worth keeping for one last year but not worth any kind of long term commitment.

Truthfully I wish Stew was on this list. Not because I want him gone but because I don’t think he’ll prove himself worth that deal this year.

There’s no need to rush to extend wiseman and killian. I still believe killian can get it together, but they need to prove themselves first.

Wiseman and Killian get taken to RFA easily, they've both done nothing to warrant consideration of an extension.

I'm interested to see if Bey gets extended and what for, as there were rumblings that his agent was asking for big money which is part of the reason we traded him (he shares the same agent as Cade FWIW). He's looked good in pre-season: 22mpg for 14.3 points on 58% FG and 46% from 3, along with 6.7 rebounds.

I have more faith in Killian than Wiseman.

I don't see why we didn't let Stewart hit RFA either. Yes he's more of an established player but what he gives you (toughness, hustle, defense) can sometimes be found on cheap vet deals too.

Being the Detroit Pistons , unfortunately, comes with a lot of negatives. If we just allowed him yo go to restricted free agency he's gonna probably move on from us.
We overpay our home grown drafted guys or they bail on us. And then we fill in the holes with cheap vet deals and can't reach the salary floor.
Just look at this past summer as an example
We took on Joe Harris who is pretty useless in order to reach that floor basically. Nob9dy wanted to come here, especially with us being so bad. Weaver is giving us a shot, our only shot really, to trade from somebody. That's our only realist shot at getting a good player here. Overpaying our draft picks and trading for established player on long term deal.

Weaver traded for Joe Harris because he is incompetent, he decided to sit on his hands (again) because he is clueless and is only interested in collect paychecks from our clueless owner.

And there is no way to justify the Stewart's extension. It's a bad one. He is a backup energy big off the bench, who should be playing 15 mpg behind Duren.

I'm content with the lack of moves. I'm not sure Killian or Wiseman belong on any NBA team, let alone the Pistons, and if they do, Pistons will have plenty of time to rectify. And quite frankly, if a player doesn't fit with Monty, then probably they shouldn't be here given the money and years he has.

Bey though...No idea what will happen there.

A very valuable skill set.

We need to be prepared to see bigger numbers than we’re used to. That’s the way the wind is blowing.

If he doesn't take a leap imo it's a bad contract. Low volume 3pt shooter and overall is a negative offensive player.

Initially, I thought Weaver did a great job, in part, because we've had a bad history of draft picks, but after some time, I'm not sure. We got lucky with the 1st pick, and having a ton of Top 5 players, including Duren/Stew who were still 1st rounders. But it doesn't mean anything if we don't win. It's not a core until we see wins and improvement from each player and collectively as a team.

My problem is when Weaver says he'll get 2-way players, then uses our exception on Joe Harris? I hardly remember the guy playing and if his 3 isn't going in, he hurts you on both ends, which is the same for Bagley/Wiseman (redundant).

I wish Weaver would at least do some press conferences and better explain. Even when he talks for an hour, he really isn't saying anything. Just vague stuff everyone says and expects.

But who would you pick to replace him?

Well, the wolves obviously think he is worth it, but I'm not sold. 3&D guys are valuable, but unless he makes a pretty big leap, he's your 4th or 5th starter. They have already paid their 1-3 starters max money, so what happens a year or 2 from now when they are in the second apron? Obviously the cap is going up an all, but I think these tougher luxury cap rules are going to really impact anyone overpaying non-stars.

I would have thought McDaniels would be at like 4/$80 or 5/$100. He is a solid starter and shoots the three ball at a good percentage. A solid starter is close to $20 million per range. He does fill the three and D role nicely but as others have mentioned he doesn't really have an offensive bag or ability to create his own.... but defending and spacing the floor is very valuable to good teams.

If I’m the Wolves I’m definitely hoping he ups the volume on that three point shot. And these rookie extensions for non stars so often bank on improvements- which are very possible.

I don’t think he needs to be a star to be worth that- clearly the Wolves believe he could command more under next years’ cap.

Maxey betting on himself?

Not surprised Bey wasn't extended. I think he's massively overrated by the public/media. Patrick Williams is another who had such buzz but hasn't seemed to put it together yet. Will be interesting to see if any of the unsigned become opportunities for us down the road, but no must haves there.
