Per wiretap: https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/273439/Pistons-Lose-Bojan-Bogdanovic-Monte-Morris-For-Multiple-Weeks

Slightly annoying this wasn’t made available sooner. Clearly they knew.

I still don't understand the obsession Weaver has with keeping Bojan, when he went and got Harris.

Injuries when your older, take longer to heal, and one has to wonder if the time to move him for real value, has now passed.

The injury to Morris just sucks, as we don't get to see how he flows, but it gives Hayes extra time to figure it all out. He looked good in the preseason!

I want to be hopeful for the season, but not the most auspicious way to start.

Bojan is just at that weird value stage. I mean what would we even get back thats better than just keeping him at the moment?

Im sure Weaver would move him for a decent pick but it probably isn't there.

I guess I look at it as he is taking a spot from a player that could be part of the teams future, if he's starting.

If Bojan was 30, I would be fine with him starting.

Just my opinion. I'm kinda done with starting a 33 year old vet, on a 17, 20,23,24 win team. If your going to suck, just play young guys, and use vets off the bench.

Cade/Hayes
Ivey/Morris
Ausar/Harris
Stewart/Bojan
Duren/Bagley

I've read several articles today questioning what Weaver is doing exactly with the team. This is a big damn year for his, and the teams future.

We are losing an above average starter (when we have at most one other in Cade) and an above average bench player (Morris is likely our only above average bench player, although Burks was an above average bench player last season I have my doubts we will repeat that efficiency on offense again this year).

So we basically lose our only positive shooter besides Harris and maybe Burks and still expect to trot out a lineup that features two non shooting bigs?

Not good, definitely not good

Losing arguably our current best player for at least 15+ games is uh... not a great start to the season. The offense is going to likely be woeful.

Losing Morris is unfortunate too, but we have a lot of guards and I'm hoping Sasser gets in the rotation as a result.

On the bright side, it gives us a chance to see what we’ve got with the younger guys.
The first 10 games were going to be rough even if we were at full strength.

I'll be bummed if we never get a good look at what healthy Cade and Bojan are like together.

When we start 5-15 or 4-16 Weaver will already have the built in excuse of being hit with injuries.

We do still have an open roster spot of Monty feels like we need a specific type of player to bring in to help fill out a 10 man rotation.

C: Duren/Wiseman
F: Stewart/Bagley
F: Ausar/Harris
G: Ivey/Burks
G: Cade/Hayes (or Sasser)

Right now we've only got 11 guys so everyone else is getting a full look in reality I'm sure Monty will use all 11 guys at different points to give everyone a look. Especially in some back-to-back type situations.

This stunts the growth of our young players.. They need to play with experienced players like Bojan and Monte on the floor.

That's pretty much a disaster. Now they're going to force Ausar into the starting lineup and I projected Morris to be a big contributor off the bench. An already young and inexperienced team just got a lot younger and a lot less experienced.

I was already very lukewarm about this season, excitement level is the lowest it's been in the Weaver era once the rebuild started after Blake, Rose etc. were gone, and this brings it down even further. I guess it's time to get more excited about following prospects AGAIN.

Let’s hope we exceed expectations without them, Which would mean others would be playing well, and then when everyone gets healthy, we can trade up with some spare pieces.

I wasn't expecting big things from this season or anything, but it's going to get ugly fast unless Ausar, Stew and Killian can knock down some jumpers.

It is what it is. We have a deeper team now than in the past couple of years so we should be able to deal with it better. But Hayes will have to step up at PG, and everyone will have to do the same with their shooting to replace BB.

Even though I’m much more optimistic about our young core than others on the board, realistically this is not a playoff year. We just need our youth to keep improving. These injuries shouldn’t stop that from happening, and if anything, keeps more minutes available.

The one injury that wasn’t mentioned and is impactful is to Livers. Monte said he was looking great this summer and is totally what the Pistons need. We need him on the court!

I'm in the minority who thinks that Bojan's defense last year zeroed out any benefits his offense afforded us. Imo he's an incomplete player who best serves the Pistons by being traded away for assets. But this was true last year as well.

If it's really pure spacing we need then Harris should be able to stand behind the arc and hoist 3-pointers just as well.

I know it's unpopular but I'd rather just try a lineup of Cade, Killian, Ausar, Duren, and then platoon between Ivey, Stewart and Harris until Livers comes back.

I have more conidence that Ausar and Killian can be servicable from the outside than I am that Bojan can be servicable on defense.

(And no, it's not a great situation to be in)

I'm thinking Monty will put less emphasis than Casey on 3 point shooting. This team has bigs who can score in the paint, and quick defenders who can create turnovers and score in transition. Making 60% of shots in the paint is the same as 40% from 3, plus you get more and 1 opportunities. They need to play smart, move the ball and take high percentage shots.
