They played last night. Durant 36 minutes. Booker and Beal out. Maybe this will be like Casey beating Toronto with Monty.

So it's game 7, and we should start to see some of the blunders being reduced, as well as better screens being set, amd movement to free Cade up, making his life considerably easier.
Familiarity with your teammates is a huge portion of winning games, something this team has 6 games of.
Here is also a great read about Montys focus, and how he's handling the players. I for one love it.

"“I’m pretty clear about objectives,” Williams said after practice Saturday, when asked if Ivey understands what’s required of him. “The way we want to play is a team style of basketball. I’m more inclined to talk to guys about defense and rebounding than I am about offense. When you defend and rebound, all that other stuff takes care of itself. As it relates to JI, he’s still a young player. And as I’ve said before, I’m not giving minutes out. Minutes are precious.”
“He’s not the only guy that’s seen his minutes and all that reduced because of mistakes on the floor,” Williams continued. “It’s happened with (Jalen Duren), it’s happened with Cade, it’s happened with everybody, because I think the standard that we have around here should be excellence. And you can’t have excellence if guys feel like they’re being gifted minutes. So it’s not just JI. Overall, we need guys to play to a certain level and hold them accountable to that every night.”
Keep at it Monty. Defense is king.

I can't think of a single time where Cade was benched for "mistakes" and not just foul trouble, which makes this ring a bit hollow from Monty. And the whole talking about "excellence" thing while playing the worst/least efficient scorer in the league 4 years running 30mpg.

Monty has his Hill and he’s willing to die on it.
Worst-case scenario, we fire him and he goes back to retirement a little richer.

I think he'll get 4 years minimum, which basically means this rebuild falls on his shoulders. If the team isn't looking good by then, it'll be time to start from scratch again.

Monty justifying playing Killian over Ivey would be similar to justifying trading Duren for Mitchell Robinson.

Re: GAME #7 - Pistons-Suns (3pm ET)
Please Monty! At least start Sasser with Cade instead of Killian so this Ivey situation stings less...

I like ausar but his defense is overrated from what I've seen so far.

Agreed. Ausar is as advertised, defensively. Does he allow the occasional back door cut? Sure. Has he been incredibly impressive against guys like SGA, LaVine, KD? Absolutely, considering he's 6 games into his career and should only get better from here.
