Has Bogan quit on us?

Post#1 » by fleet40 » Wed Nov 29, 2023 2:49 pm

He was cleared to practice last week Tuesday. And still has not sniffed the floor and there are no updates. Has he simply quit on playing this year?? What's the deal?

this is complete speculation but i wouldn't be surprised at all if what he's doing is kind of what blake did where he just wants to save his legs for games that actually matter. he's nearing the end of his career and will likely be a free agent in the off season so he doesn't want to waste whatever miles he has left on a 2-15 team. that is almost the identical situation to what blake was in.

He may prefer to get moved, but he for sure isn't quitting on us. He is hoping to come out and play and be healthy and get a team to pick up his $20+ million option for next season. He is likely playing it safe to make sure he doesn't come back too soon to full speed game action because reaggravating it at this point could cost him $20 million.

Huh? There have been updates on him. He's practicing with the team. He was possible for the last game, but they ruled him out. He should be back in the next few days.

24 hours before today's game he was listed as out, not even questionable. that isn't a great sign that someone is close to returning.

he's been out at least two months with a calf strain. soft tissue injuries can linger but that still seems like a lot of time. my guess is he could play if he wanted to but why risk coming back to a 2-15 team when you can continue rehab.

If I'm being honest, and I am, Bojan should only play when he knows he is 100%, and then only play in a few games, limited minutes, just to show other teams, he is worthy of another contract/money.

After that, I(meaning Bojan)would outright refuse to play another second for the Pistons.

Why risk anything on a team in this position?

I don't think he's that type of player, he should play because that's what he's paid to do, count himself lucky he's still in the league at his age. The Pistons need him right now, I'm sure he'd be out there if he was physically able to play.

As a fan, I want him on the court, without question. It gives Cade, a real option when he gets into the lane. It was hilarious watching Cade against the Wizards repeatedly dive in, get Stewart/Burks/Ausar/EVERYONE an open shot, and watch them miss over, and over again.

Bojan, would make any team pay for collapsing on Cade.

If I'm Bojan, I sit.

I loved watching Livers pass up a lightly contested three to get Ausar a wide open corner three. Maybe Ausar makes those in practice, but it felt like giving up a decent shot for a terrible one (and Ausar missed badly).

We will be on a back-to-back... so its fairly probable they just didn't want to start him off with a back-to-back... I feel like he'll play tomorrow.

Who the hell knows at this point.

The only team with more injury days then the Pistons, are the Grizzlies, and they just passed the Pistons.

Monte Morris was a horrific signing due to his injury status, and not dealing Bojan feels like another massive **** up now as well.

Just for like a stretch of 10 games, I would like to see this dumpster fire of a team, fully healthy. Unless of course that's too much to ask.

He's practicing with the team full contact. If this were a playoff game or something, sure, maybe he suits up. Who knows. As is, he wasn't 100%, so they sat him another game. Not really a big deal. We don't really want him coming back and reinjuring himself anyway. That wouldn't help the team and would kill any trade value if we do decide to make a move.

This thread isn’t a disease. It’s a symptom.

Wasn’t Monte a trade? Or am I not remembering correctly. Either way I get your point

Yep, agreed, and in this case get him off the team ASAP. You don't miss 2 months with a calf strain, he's clearly milking it IMO. We should want players that want to be here and want to help this young team grow, not a guy that is only in it for himself.

Dec 15 opens up the trade market. Don’t let Bogdonovich get hurt before then. Just play enough to show everyone he’s healthy.

I wonder if people watch Bojan play. The guy is a competitor. He gives 110% every time he play. He is not a great defender, but it's not for lack of effort and he does way more than he should on offense.

He is not a diva and if you guys watch the games, he is always at our bench talking to the players, especially Cade, giving advices during the games acting almost like a coach.

He is old, and the older you get, the longer it get for injuries to heal, and he should not play unless he is 100% and he should be in a minutes restriction once he is back.

I agree. We were atrocious last year and he had a career year, kept played hard even for us after getting that extension. Bojan is a total pro.

And if he does not want to play for us/wants out at some point to land on a contender I wouldn't blame him.

Appreciate the responses. I've been watching this team since 1988 and the vibe surrounding him smells fishy. I hope I am wrong and he plays, would like to see him with a healthy Cade.

I was very surprised monte morris ended up with us, think it was a signing, the injury is probably why he did lol
