No games yesterday. Only 2 today. Only 2 tomorrow.
I'm sure it's part of this tournament thing. Basically an all-star break just a month into the season.

yeah because they didn't know who would make the elimination round they had every team off yesterday so no team would potentially be on the second half of a back-to-back. then all the eliminated teams play this wednesday and friday. the tournament semis are on thursday and the finals are on saturday. then everybody off on sunday.
definitely weird but at least there will still be good games on since all the remaining tourney teams have winning records.
the sundays (yesterday and this coming sunday) are definitely the weirdest with there being no games at all.

Yeah, I also don't think making Sundays to be the built in off days is a coincidence. Competing with the NFL is usually not a good formula. So anytime you can plan around not having to do that is beneficial.

Hopefully it means the Pistons get in some good practice time with their now mostly healthy roster and can start to gel a bit more. Goodness knows they need to practice their defensive rotations.

Re: Not used to this kind of break at this time of the season
Same.... But those on TV are paid to hype it up.. It's pathetic at times, constantly asking NBA players, former players, guys calling the games, "Does this seem like a playoff atmosophere?" every 5 seconds (to a nodding affirmative, of course)
Why can't they play this hard without this? I think it's obvious the games are not fun anymore and the NBA has to do whatever to make the games more watchable. But because we live in a stat-based society, if they see higher ratings, they think, "We're doing it right", but the big boom was because Yao Ming was the #1 pick, and 1.5 billion people started watching. The Rockets will always have Chinese fans. Fertita even fired Morey for a tweet ("Stand with Taiwan") because this is all business..
I started watching this for sport. But it's like a 25-yr old soap opera.. As long as I'm alive, I'll watch the Pistons, while FF'ing to the last few minutes of some other games. I prefer the half-time (with TNT Barkley, or NBA TV Isiah) and post-game show more than many games that are 30-point blow-outs... Passing up an easy layup because "3 points is worth more than 2" logic.

I think it’s fun. But hard to care too much when our team is irrelevant. Just like the playoffs.

It should be done by division and each team should play each other twice - once home, once away - and on back-to-backs. The whole league should play these games on the same nights, if scheduling would allow it, which I suspect it wouldn't. In which case they should just scrap it.

I think it’s hard to care because it mean’s absolutely nothing. It’s fake hyped on TV but nothing is different but the court.

Our team needs the break. Hell, I need a break from seeing eye-scratching Pistons basketball. I'm not complaining.

The tournament is growing on me. Great game between Lakers-Suns last night. I think it’s $500K per each team member for the winners. Lots of rotation/bench guys got to be pretty excited about that.

I’ve just been looking at box scores but last two days does seem effort levels are high. They are nationally televised too so maybe that’s it idk
