Summer crow (comp w/ Houston)

I was pretty critical of Weaver's offseason (and still am), but I was a big fan of the Williams hire and overall I was thankful that we didn't go in the direction that Houston did. I didn't want Udoka's baggage or to overpay vets to speed up the process. And what did I care about overpaying a coach? It doesn't impact the cap, and I haven't been impressed by Troy's leadership. Maybe a new voice and vision is what we need.

Holy sh*t was that wrong. Monty is an awful, petty coach who does not want to be here, but he recognized that he would never get a contract like what Gores offered. Some fans lament the current star player meta of taking the extension and then forcing their way out, but it is so much worse when it's an apathetic coach who knows they can't be fired and would get the money anyway.

I don't even care about a panic trade now, the team's spirit is broken. Honestly, I'd rather see some of these guys try to carve out success elsewhere.

I used to think the worst position to be in as a fan was having a team owner who was too involved in the decision-making process. Maybe that's also happening here, but Gores is something even worse -- he's a mark. He's impatience in the worst ways, he thinks you can purchase culture, process, and identity. And people from around the league, on our staff and certainly on other teams, take advantage of that over and over again. The amount of nepotism in our staff, for a team that is 2-24, is astonishing. We just had a winless month, and we're about to do it again. Has a single person been fired? How is that possible?
Count that baby and a foul!

Reportedly Houston's plan was to target Harden in FA on a big deal, but then with Ime Udoka being hired he talked them into going after FVV and Brooks instead with that money... and those guys for sure came in and helped to change the culture of the team. We really need some culture changing vets that get after it defensively.
