Re: Keepers
Well, JEIII said Duren is more likely to be traded than Ivey or Stew.
Troy is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), so he might ended up trading Duren to get a PF.
IMO the only keepers should be Cade/Ausar/Duren and Sasser.
Everybody else on the roster should be a 38% 3 point shooter and not a liability on defense, if you don't hit those 2 requirements you should be gone.

Re: Keepers
Duren has huge upside, but we've seen a decline in players like him being difference makers in the league. He'll need to do more than rebound and defend to be a bigger impact player he'll have to start adding some offensive moves. He probably also has much more trade value than Stew... Ivey also has much more trade value than Stew IMO. Duren also has had a ton of ankle injuries since coming into the league. I also feel like Ausar and Duren are both great rebounders and athletes but the fact that neither has an offensive game and neither space the floor makes it hard to see them working well together which means one needs to be a bench player. I've said it many times that Duren and Ausar should be the only two guys that can't shoot that play no one else is good enough to make it worth the lack of spacing on the floor.

Re: Keepers
Cunningham.
That's the list.
Thompson and Duren would be next.
Ivey and Stew are my prime trade bait for a PF shooter. BB to NYK to get that heavily protected pick back and then dangle 2024 unprotected pick along with Stew and Ivey and go after a big fish PF to pair with Cunningham. Thompson, Duren are accepting complimentary pieces. Hayes, Morris, Sasser at point for all I care.

Re: Keepers
I’d prefer to keep Cade, Duren, Ausar.
But really? At 2-25 you should be open to trading EVERYBODY.

Re: Keepers
The 01-02 Pistons took a huge jump forward and won 50 games and a Central division title and only Ben Wallace was a "Keeper" on that team. Only Ben and Corliss were there in 03-04 for the championship and Corliss was gone after that. Just goes to show you how few keepers there were on even a good up and coming 50 win team Joe D was churning that roster over looking for better pieces/fits to the puzzle to build around Ben.... Once he got "the piece" in Big Ben he made the moves to get a bunch of guys around him that would fit and buy in to that Detroit Pistons Goin' to Work culture.

Re: Keepers
To be clear, I’m not saying trade Cade, Ausar or Duren for scraps. But a team that has won 2 games out of 27 has no business leaving anything off the table.
I doubt we’ll get a trade that makes dealing any of those 3 worthwhile. But nobody is untouchable.

This is my list as well, but I’m guessing “keeper” means something different to all of us, so let me dive deeper.
It’s Weaver’s job to bring value to our roster. If more comes back then goes out, then it’s theoretically a good trade. So everyone is tradeable, especially considering our record. Cade is available, but we need to get back Edwards, Tatum, or something substantial. Not going to happen but you get my point.
One other thing to consider is the value of rookie contracts. It’s like 5 years of control on a player without having to pay huge money. Ivey is a perfect example. He may need to play better D, and it would be nice if the 3 ball was better, but he’s not costing us much and won’t for the next 3.5 years. There’s value in that.
I’m also NOT extending anyone that doesn’t deserve it. That’s really when you have to make the decision of who’s a keeper.

I don't have access to JEIII's articles but did he give any rationale for why we would consider trading Duren?
He's shown so much promise already, and although plagued with injuries he seems like our best long-term prospect behind Cade.

Re: Keepers
We need Arnie Kander (or moral equivalent) to evaluate and rehab the injured.
The dude we've had for several years (back to the SVG days?) just ain't cutting it.
Just one of many problems...

Just get rid of the coach for now, finish the season and then we can make assessments on the players in a 'normal' environment.

He didn't actually say that Duren was more likely to be traded than Ivey or Stew at all. He basically said it would depend on what trades are available and what the return would be, because Duren would probably get you a bigger fish than Ivey/Stew. Which I think is totally valid. Realistically, no one on the roster should be considered off the table at all, and obviously the more you like a player, the more other teams will be offering for them.
Here's the interview where JEIII talked about it...

Arnie Kander! I was trying to remember his name awhile back. Was so good he definitely gave the Pistons an advantage. I assume most teams have improved in the conditioning department so it’s no longer a big differentiator. But you’re right - these injuries have made a bad situation worse. We could sure use some help or better luck w all the injuries.

Yes, he said the team will be built around Cade, and Cade doesn't need anything special at the center position, a guy like Capela would be enough.
So Duren would be expendable to our FO while they like Ivey pairing with Cade a lot and they think Stewart will be good in the role they're envisioning for him.
This front office will **** up our future even more than they already did. They're 100% clueless and/or have bad intentions.

Re: Keepers
Duren is still in diapers in NBA years. He is still a kid, he just looks like prime Dwight Howard. Weaver move would be to trade him for 2 2nd round picks like Bruce Brown, then draft a bust to replace him.
To me Ivey is not a keeper, he is fast but lacks everything else, especially BBIQ. Which is funny because that is what he was supposed to have. Good PR.
Cade and Duren are it, along with Ausar. But those 3 together are an odd fit.

Re: Keepers
I think Ivey is a bad fit with Ausar but he still has enough value to bring back something worthwhile. Strategically- and I could be wrong- he feels like the most valuable, tradable asset you have.

Allowing this front office to make any trade this season would be a monumental error.
Fire everyone and begin the search for a new GM. You don’t get a chance to fix 2-60 or whatever the record is at this point.
Anyone else hear JLIII catching strays from Valenti today? He can go too.
Keepers: Cade
Worth keeping but listening on in the offseason: Duren, Ivey, Thompson
Everyone else can be had for the right price.

I agree my scare is making a bad short term trade with no real long term upside. Weaver has been a failure. I’m not as high on Duren. I see Drummond 2.0. I’d trade Duren for a younger stretch four who can rebound and has upside. I’m not sure the Pistons will find that on the market.
I’d also be open to dealing anyone but Cade. Cade isn’t a franchise guy but he could be a good second option.
