I'm hoping we beat everyone else and pull of a good trade before Jan 15th (when everyone is able to be traded)

good news: duren is back.
bad news: it looks like stewart is starting beside him.

also - i'm hoping the guys spending christmas with their families gave them a chance to kind of reset. taking their mind of the game for a couple days *hopefully* helps morale.
and hopefully none of them had a drunk uncle that just made fun of how **** the team was all night.

I really hope they'd have him backup at the 5. I wish they'd try
Cade
Ivey
Ausar
Bojan
Duren
Duren's big enough that Bojan's lack of size makes up, but also, a bigger guy to guard means less lateral speed he needs, and he needs to score. If a guy is struggling, send them to the bench. I really don't wanna see Joe Harris or Burks, and would rather have Livers, who at least keeps the ball moving. A "glue" guy on both ends, but never makes much of an impact, but he doesn't make too many mistakes. Harris and Burks aren't even shooting, so they're just hurting the team in every way.. Between Bagley and Wiseman, I go with whoever is playing better. When you lose this much, you SHOULD experiment.

Cade + Bojan + Ausar + Stew + Duren
This lineup works well for us if we dominate the paint battle, win the rebounding battle big time, and go HAM on defense. If we're just out there going through the normal day to day motions you have to drop Ausar from this lineup and put in another shooter (or at least Ivey.
I do think that has potential to be our best 5 man unit if Ausar can start shooting threes at even 30% and if we dominate the rebounding battle and go HAM defenisvely... if not there's just not enough offense.

i think that lineup gives us next to no ball handling, shooting and no spacing, a pretty bad combo. running pick and roll pretty much isn't viable and 3/5 guys can't create their own offense. it's hard to win the paint battle if you can't get to the paint because it's packed.

Prediction: the team who makes the most three pointers wins.
I have a pretty good idea who that’s going to be……

Re: Game 30: Pistons vs. Nets 7PM EST
interesting - early shootaround vids had duren with a starter jersey on for warmups but more recent ones have him with no jersey at all. the new blue jersey "starters" are:
cade
ivey
livers
bojan
stewart

Livers? WTF. He is the statistically worst player in the NBA and he is starting for us?

Re: Game 30: Pistons vs. Nets 7PM EST
Livers is a good guy, and I thought if healthy he might be that two-way bench player we need, but he isn't... But to start? Over who? Ausar seems to play better in the starting line-up, where he's given some more space, and easy passes for dunks/oops from Cade.
I'd like to see Monty throw some more zone once in a while, just to throw a team off for a bit.

I mean, it's not like the smaller lineup produced better results.
But yeah, I hate watching Stewart at the 4.

Re: Game 30: Pistons vs. Nets 7PM EST
Another reason we're not maximizing results. We don't use guys to their advantage. Casey said it last year. "We believe Stew is further along" (than Bagley, Wiseman, Duren). In Stew's first few years, he shot 50%, scored inside. Put pressure on defense, instead of letting them kick back and watch guys brick open 3's. There's a reason teams leave us open. We haven't made any trades, so Monty needs to ... .5 offense, whatever that means. I don't think he knows. "Well, our guys can't do that, so just ....." ?
And some of you think Isiah Thomas as GM would hurt this team? He's a great drafter. That's probably the one thing Gores won't do, even though it's something I thought he would do. Maybe "ace up his nose" card? A way to make fans happy? I don't see Isiah being worse than Weaver.

If Livers is indeed starting then it just adds to the idea Monty is not using his best lineups and doesn't like playing younger guys for some reason. His stubbornness in going to guys like Hayes & Livers is malpractice
Ausar and even Sasser (for going small & nimble) are right there to fully utilize... His insistence on running Stew and Duren is mind-boggling. It doesn't work in this NBA, period
