As much as I’d like to swing for the fences and get a young all-star, locked into a contract, it’s not terribly realistic.
And the alternative of taking under performing expensive players like John Collins & Zach Lavine isn’t appealing.
The young draft picks (Cade, Ivey, Duren, Ausar) take a little time to develop. I don’t want to be saddled with long albatross contracts once we figure out how they’re developing.
Who are Cliff Robinson, Corliss Williamson & Jon Berry type veterans of 2024 that can help right the ship while not harming the flexibility?
Does one of our young players get traded for another team’s young player like Theo Ratliff for Jerry Stackhouse?
There’s a lot of ways to build a team and I’m wondering what players around the league are undervalued and might blossom here.

Weaver had a chance, and blew it multiple times.
It is not going to happen under his watch.
One example? Malik Monk.
This is how things are going to be until he is gone.

Weaver has gone the other direction in spending on guys who aren't anything. DeAndre Jordan, Kemba, Noel, Harris, etc... he's done it from day one with moves like trading for and stretching Dedmon who we are still paying for... Signing Plumlee and then giving up a 2nd rounder to move him.... giving up a draft pick for Morris who hasn't played for us.... we just aren't don't have a GM who knows what to get to build a balanced cohesive team in 2024. We'd honestly be better with Luka Garza, Bey and Trey Lyles over Bagley, Livers and Wiseman.

The 2000-01 Pistons were so much better than we are now- so much closer to contention.
And they sucked.
And they sucked.

Forgot Weaver or any negativity for this exercise.
Zeebneeb is the new GM.
Malik Monk is a great choice and an UFA.
What’s your offer?

My guess he will get around what Cam Johnson got. Probably more

Man I've been chasing a Corliss Willamson autograph for like 3 years. Pistons jersey that is.

Re: Cliff Robinson, Corliss Williamson & Jon Berry
What’s funny is you can argue they’re already on the team. Cliff was a solid positional defender that can hit a three, Stewart is just about there. Corliss was a post scorer and those are non existent now if your name isn’t Jokic, but Knox is actually improving and becoming pretty efficient. Jon Barry was a sharpshooter but was a crap defender which Bojan is a clone of.
Now we just need Ivey to develop into Rip, Cade to become Chauncey, Duren to become Big Ben, Ausar to shoot as good as Tayshaun and make a crazy stupid trade for Anthony Davis to be our Sheed.
And then lose because today’s NBA is ridiculously leveraged to the offense now.

We’ve yet to see him play here but I think Monte Morris is one of those pieces even if he’s resigned.
I like Bojan until the right deal comes, with all our guards I’ve been ready to move Burks since last summer.

I'd like to get Dejounte Murray, especially since it seems Atlanta wants to trade him.

Not sure what we could give them that they'd want, though.
