not a great game to be missing stew and muscala against all the size orlando has but it is what it is.

i'm actually pretty excited to see isaac play, apparently he's on a minutes restriction and only plays 15-20/g but absolutely kills it defensively. he was out last time we played them.

That, and we need to eventually figure things out with everyone back, and these are more delays, and the majority of the season is over.

I hope this doesn't force Monty to play him tonight..

"Killian Hayes’ camp, per a source, would prefer the fourth-year point guard land with a new team. The Pistons seem to agree. Hayes, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 draft and Weaver’s first pick to lead the rebuild, has been a healthy scratch the past two games with the backcourt at full strength."

His camp isn't doing him any favors. Teams now will protect the 2nd round pick they offer (jk), but this was obvious to everyone. Killian has been given every chance in the world. He's been partly lucky because we've had so many injuries, but Weaver tried to get blood out of a stone, because it was his first pick, and he completely blew it. The trades he made for picks were good considering we gave up 2nd rounders (and Jerami, who was no longer a fit when we got Cade) to get Duren, Bey, Stew.... He couldn't screw up the 1st pick. The jury is still out on Ivey and Ausar, but Sasser was a good pick, but again, Monty says great things about him, how he plays on both ends, "wallet" - tough as leather. Despite not being able to get into a rhythm, he still shoots 40% from 3, defends, never takes a play off...

It seems like the front office needs to have these interventions with Monty for things 90% of Pistons boards lament as the obvious. And we've gone over all the possible implications of overriding another, too many cooks, financial, but eventually there's no excuse.

4 more days. 4 hour special on ESPN. One of the most exciting days in the NBA season for me. Draft/FA is another great time.

I feel like Orlando is exactly the team we hoped we would be this year. They finished strong last season instead of going full out tank mode for Wemby and they managed to carry that momentum over to this season. They are 26-23 tied for 7th/8th but only a half game out of the 6th seed. Their #1 pick became an all-star this season. They have a secondary player in Wagner who is also averaging an efficient 20+ PPG. Other recent young picks pike Suggs and Cole Anthony are averaging 12+ PPG. They have mostly starters that are 21-23 years of age just like us and are actually younger overall than us (even before the Washington trade) with an average age of 24.3.

I know Orlando had a little more fire power in draft picks but the reality is they had a #1, #5, #6, #8, #11, #15 and Detroit has had #1, #5, #5, #7, #16, #19 since 2020 (not including us trading up for Sasser) so overall our picks were still higher and more picks we didn't didn't hit as well as they did, at least up to this point.

How is "his camp" going to ask for a new team Weaver literally gifted him a free $7.4 million this season that he didn't earn at all. If you can't make the 10 man rotation on the worst team in history you're probably not going to have any interest around the league unless a team needs a new tank commander.

Not hitting on any of the stars in 2020 with those 3 picks was a huge setback. Add in a Bane,Maxey,Hali things look way dif. Hell Devin Vassell has been solid. Factor in when you draft a bust like Killian high hes playing on your roster for years.

I think outside of 2020 we drafted BAP. Weavers best play was Duren. That said W.Kessler or M.Will who went right after Duren might of been the right picks at center. Duren is young so time will tell how much his game grows.

What if all our guards got into foul trouble? And Killian took a bunch of gummies? OR, figures he might as well punch Wagner. I respected him when he swung. He missed ala his jumpshot. Airball.

Speaking of gummies, I never ever understood the Miami Heat getting Dion Waiters. Very un-Heat thing to do.

Jaden Ivey's current career high is 32 points... Would be great to see him top that # today.

Knox starting over Ausar is such absolute nonsense. Knox shoot like 30% from 3 the last couple of months. Ausar brings so much more to the floor if you're already going to start a well below average shooter.

Sometimes we go on a run and you can really see the potential with this team. Then it's followed by 4-5 boneheaded plays and you question the first thought.

Monty STILL parks Ivey in the corner and gives it to Sasser as the primary ball handler :noway:

Sasser is a shooter. Ivey is the guy you give the ball. It's not hard.

Ivey looking real aggressive when he gets the ball. Pity he doesn't get it often.

The Magic aren't that much different than us talent-wise, but it always feels like their team puts them in a position where their strengths are strengths and their weaknesses are hidden.

Very hard to win a game when you can't hit a FG in a six minute period.
