After we unloaded 3 rotation players, this is what we’re left with

Starters
Cade
Ivey
Ausar
Stewart
Duren

Rotation players:
Sasser
Grimes
Simone
Danillo
Muscala

DNPs
Troy brown
Fournier
Wiseman
Flynn
Milton

Next year all we have on the books:
1. Cade
2. Ivey
3. Ausar
4. Stewart
5. Duren
6. Sasser
7. Grimes
8. Top 5 pick

That probably breaks down into:

Starters
Cade
Ivey
Ausar or F/A
F/A or Ausar
Duren

Bench
Sasser
Grimes
Simone
Lotto pick
Stewart

We’ll have roughly 60 million in cap space. What moves do you make and what moves do you see us making?

If Weaver is still here, I figure he’ll punt again and tank for Flagg.

Draft:
Hopefully get something better than pick #5 in the lottery.
Cody Williams or Zaccharie Risacher would be ideal.

Free Agency:
Assuming OG doesn’t take our calls, get Miles Bridges.
Resign Simone Fontecchio (assuming he plays well)

Summer trades:
Be opportunistic with our cap space.

Ivey / Sasser
Cade / Grimes
Umude / Fournier
Fonteccio / Ausar
Duren / Stewart

Starters : Duren is the only non-shooter/floor-spacer
Bench : Ausar is the only non-shooter/floor-spacer

Wolves fan here. Don’t sleep on Tory Brown Jr. A lot of us wanted him to get more minutes. He wasn’t as consistent as we would have liked, but his 3 point shooting was solid and he played surprisingly good defense. I wouldn’t be shocked if by the end of the year not only was he in your rotation, but you guys gladly brought him back next year. Sadly I cannot say the same for Shake, but at least he is non guaranteed and you can dump him if he fails to contribute.

For the rest of this season I would go:

Duren/Muscala
Fontecchio/Stewart
Ausar/Brown Jr
Cade/Grimes
Ivey/Sasser

And then next season we sign Tobias and draft Risacher or Cody Williams:

Duren/Stewart
Harris/Fontecchio
Ausar/Risacher or Williams
Cade/Grimes
Ivey/Sasser

Our payroll is absolutely laughable right now.

We have $92.098.953 in salary for our players. almost 20 million of those are to Fournier and 12 million are for Wiseman and they should both be 3rd stringers at best.

Our dead cap is $43.732.633, which mean we are paying that amount for guys to not play for us. If you add Wiseman and Fournier to that, we are spending more money for guys to not be on the floor than we are for guys who are actually playing.

But it all clears after this season No more dead money

Agreed but the problem is two fold.

1 - we coulda been smart and added first round picks to take on some longer salary. For some reason, Weaver is in love with adding second rounders while sending out better seconds overall.

2 - we keep talking about free agency. The Pistons did nothing the last few years outside of being a salary dumper for other teams. We took DeAndre Jordan and Joe Harris for seconds. This helped a team like Brooklyn resign Cam Johnson. It’s silly to think that we could sign any talent at anything but an overpay. If Tobias is the target and he comes here, you better believe that he will get a contract similar to LaVine. I guarantee that Philly will offer Tobias good money.

Reminder of another Weaver trade gone wrong.

Maybe/hopefully we can target 2 players that are MLE worthy and we offer them more so they sign with us.
Those types of contracts won't hamstring us so severely like Lavine would have and Tobias will.
We really only have Ausurand the new Italian guy as forwards. Get 2 MLE type forwards and draft another prospect there as well.
Our 4guards and 2centers are solid as can be. Shore up the forwards

I would seriously consider trading our pick and Ausar to Utah for Lauri.

Sasser
Ivey
Cade
Lauri
Duren

They’d want to start with Cade as the offer. You don’t trade a dime for 2 nickels.
