People will bewail the Tellem connection, but I always thought this would be a solid hire.

Well we know that Arn isn't going to be going anywhere, which is already a negative to the hire.
If they aren't giving Trajan the ability to fire Troy and Monty, and get his own guys then its going to be another wasted 3-4 years before we are right back into the same cycle again.

Connelly was never realistic so I guess I’m fine with this. If Troy and Monty don’t get fired right quick, it’ll be a sign it’s just business as usual, though.

Based on what? Being an assistant to David Griffin like Weaver was an assistant to Sam Presti?

Reports were that Connelly could be had for 15 mil/yr.

Re: Woj: Trajon Langdon Hired as President
Seems like a solid hire of the options that were available to us. He has done his time working under Sean Marks in Brooklyn and David Griffin in New Orleans (drafted some good two way wings which everyone knows we're in need of). I'm going to be cautiously optimistic.

Re: Woj: Trajon Langdon Hired as President
Positives - Young up and comer, highly regarded, pretty decent track record in his role in New Orleans
Negative (and it's a big one) - Inexperienced and not established in an executive role so I fear that he'll be a pushover for Gores and Tellem (a puppet so to speak) and won't have full autonomy to bring in his own guys. A more established front office guy likely wouldn't take this job unless he had absolute full autonomy to make his own decisions whereas Langdon doesn't have the cache to rock the boat if Gores questions his moves or pushes Weaver and Monty on him. For this reason, I lean towards not liking it but we'll see.

If he decides to move on from Monty, I’d be curious if Jarron Collins (another former Tellem client and current Pels assistant) is on his short list. He was an early candidate for Detroit last year.
With that said, I’d be surprised if either Weaver or Monty are fired, much less both of them.

So to clean up the mess made by someone who was hired to a position he'd never held before, we're hiring someone to a position he's never held before.
* And Langdon's title may have been 'GM' in New Orleans, but he was really David Griffin's assistant.

This is exactly why I don't like it. I think this is just a "window dressing" hire IMO, the leadership of the sunk ship will likely not change much.

Yeah, I’m actually fairly certain they wouldn’t have moved forward if they thought Connelly was a real possibility.
He’ll have to find some other way to get leverage on the Wolves.
Meanwhile Langdon is a qualified candidate who wants the job. I’m ready to see what he can do.
He better have the power to fire guys.

I’m not anticipating big changes, otherwise Monty and Weaver would be gone already.

That’d be 27 mill put into a coach and President who don’t want to be here.
I for one am glad we got someone who actually wants this job.
