I'm pretty happy about this. Langdon and Lindsey were the two candidates I would have been happy with as the president - now having both onboard makes it even better.

I’m all for bringing in quality people as long as they’re on the same page.

No more factions please..

How many cooks do they need in the kitchen? Geesh.

Langdon is building his own front office. I don’t think what we’re seeing is anything unusual.

We've now hired 2 people who were candidates for the same job. That is unusual.

I agree he was likely Gores' second choice and Gores wanted to throw money at him to get him on board as well. At least Gores is spending what needs to be spent to bring in top tier shooting coach, top tier executives, etc.

What's next Coach K coming out of retirement for a 3 year $50 million coaching deal with the Pistons?

The question now is, who's making player acquisition decisions? Who's calling the shots? His title suggests that Lindsey is. He held the same title in Utah when he built that team, prior to the controversy with Paul Millsap.

I’ll grant I’m not an authority on titles. But I’m pretty sure President supersedes Vice President.

There is not a consistent standard on titles in the NBA and what each one means, or even which titles are held within an organization. Never has been.

Tom Wilson was team President under Bill Davidson, and he was not the player acquisition guy. McClosky was. Langdon's responsibilities range far beyond player acquisition. Gores made that clear. He's the umbrella man, threading the needle or whatever.

Langdon is the President of Basketball Operations. That is the same title Joe Dumars had.

Wilson was President of Palace Sports.

Relax.

Did Joe hire a GM? Langdon has hired two already.

I'm quite relaxed, and entertained.

Right. Joe was President and GM. Trajan is President.

Langdon, Lindsey, Blackstone. So it's a president, VP and assistant to the president?
Seems like a confusing chain of command to me and too many chefs in the kitchen but it wouldn't be the Gores Pistons without some confusion. Whatever, just make good decisions.

It's really not that out of the ordinary some of you guys are making it out to be.

The Pistons have been run like a G-league team for so long, it's weird, and unsettling to see proper team structure.

is this really common? To have a president, a VP and another executive who is an assistant to one of them? Seems pretty convoluted to me.

https://www.detroitlions.com/team/front-office-roster/

Take a look at the Detroit Lions management page and how theyre structured. Names like Chris Speilman and John Dorsey hold alot of weight in the organization too besides Brad Holmes and Ray Agnew.
