Roster

James L. Edwards III has said Ausar Thompson probably won't play in summer league but should be ready for training camp.

I'm guessing Marcus Sasser, Ron Holland, Bobi Klintman, and Daniss Jenkins will be on the roster. Who else?

Sasser is almsot 24 years old, I feel like if he plays he's going to be the guy that really goes off for us. Holland still just an 18 year old kid and this is a new experience for him... Although many of the guys from the G league also play on summer league teams so he might be a bit more prepared for this level of competition than some of the college Freshman coming in.

If ausar played he probbaly 3 steals, 2blks a game, would’ve been nice if he could’ve

If Ausar isn't playing hopefully Holland does well.

The actual Summer League games are meaningless and valueless. I'd much rather see a week long Minichamps like the NFL has or something where the rookies and younger players can get extensive coaching and work on things and drill.

It's more for fans to get excited for the rookies than anything. I would assume the other things you refer to here are happening behind the scenes.

I think summer league provides a small first taste of NBA basketball for the rookies. Its a primer to actually being in the league. Teams wouldn't do it if it didn't have any value to the players. The timing of it is also helpful, they go play for a week, then work on their games the rest of the summer with what they've learned.

SF/PF - Jalen Slawson will be on the roster.

He turns 25 in October. Kings 2nd round pick in 2023.

He shot 39% from 3 his fifth year in college but it failed to translate in the G League.

Slawson is 6'8"- 220 pounds with a 7'0" wingspan.

NBAdraft.net in 2023: "Elite and versatile defender who developed into an impressive three-level scorer for a high flying Furman offense … Developed into more than just a reliable 3-point shooter, posting a 39% percentage from beyond the arc on three attempts per game this season … One of the most productive defenders in the country, averaging a steal and a half or more in both blocks and steals over the last two seasons … Can guard any player in the frontcourt effectively and should instill confidence in his coaches when he switches onto guards. Could obviously struggle in these matchups, but won’t be a liability by any measure … Instinctive off-ball defender who generates steals and projects as a solid help-side rim protector from either the 3 or 4 position … Impressive downhill driver who uses his physical frame to earn trips to the foul line, where he shoots at a solid 78% over the last two seasons. Offensively, he’s best going to the basket with a head of steam, whether that be in the halfcourt or in transition. While he lacks handle and shiftiness with the ball, he’s able to read when he’s forced a defense to collapse and make the right pass. Slawson’s perimeter shooting is inconsistent. He may benefit from getting G League reps as a rookie, rather than sitting at the end of the bench for an NBA team. If his shot comes along, Slawson could be a role player sooner than later, as his defensive IQ will make coaches want him on the floor. Slawson’s defensive ability makes him a bit like a jumbo Matisse Thybulle, though the former is a more talented playmaker."

I've learned that our important players rarely get much burn in SL.

It's not something we as an organization particularly value, so I'm not sure why fans should.
