Another season where we have a tough schedule to start. I was hoping for an easy one, just to get the guys' confidence up

Gonna be an interesting start to the season. I belive the Pacers are a fraudulent team, and are nowhere near as good as the end of last season would suggest. (Just my opinion.)

Pistons matchup extremely well with them.

V for victory.

The end of the season suggested, or the entire season suggested? Remember, they made the finals of the in-season tournament, too. They had injuries that caused them to slip during the 2nd half of the season, prior to the playoffs. Good team. Deep team.

Meanwhile, they not only beat us 4 times last year, but covered the spread in all 4 games. Not sure where the 'great matchup' belief comes from. We'll see.

I'm pretty low on the Pistons but with a new season (especially with no Monty) comes new enthusiasm so I'm really looking forward to this. Don't ruin my enthusiasm Pistons.

I disagree on the Pacers. They gave Boston the biggest tussle in the playoffs and they were wounded, it was a sweep but three of the games were toss ups. Their defense is pretty bad but you can just outscore your problems in todays' NBA and their offense is elite. I think they break into the top 4 of the east this season.

Looking forward to it. Indy is going to be a good team and has a big advantage in experience playing together vs the lineups we are going to roll out.

Yeah, I'm more of this mind with respect to the Pacers.

We'll see how this year goes though. I still think Hali is the real deal even though his numbers took a dip later in the year.

As for the Pistons, let’s see if Ivey’s improved play continues in the regular season. I sure hope so.

It’s getting kind of crazy that there isn’t a better understanding of what is required for Ausar to return. :banghead:

Ausar had me excited last year for this year, but I think his career might be over and that saddens me

I’m not ready to go full alarmist on this score yet, but yeah, there’s nothing about this situation that feels good.

Ausar being out is the biggest disappointment.. He could help us in so many ways, especially now we have shooters and a coach that won't penalize him for playing well (I know the front office demanded Ivey start, so soon after, Ausar played MUCH less)

Doubt we would have extended him if there was any chance of his career being over. Guessing worse case there would be some sort of exception given to us....but this is all so weird.

Just saw the video of him in practice with the improved shooting stroke....hoping our boy Smooth Johnny Kane can provide us some insight tonight.

Got a few butterflies? Buzzing a touch?

Thats because you know deep down, the Pistons are gonna be adequate to possibly good this year.

Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

christian koloko missed the entire season last year and still isn't cleared (source):

Koloko, the No. 33 pick in the 2022 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors, missed all of last season with a blood clot issue and needs to be cleared by the league’s fitness-to-play panel consisting of an NBA-appointed doctor, a players union-appointed doctor and a mutually agreed upon third doctor before he can participate in basketball activities for L.A.

i'd prepare for a lengthy absence. getting three doctors to unanimously decide that it's safe to return is going to be difficult. they all have ausar's health as a priority but especially the league doctor is protecting the league from any potential liability. as long as ausar is on blood thinners he can't play and his own doctor (or team doctor, whoever is treating him) has to feel that he can come off them. even then they might want to monitor how he does off them for a period of time.

*if* he is ever able to return i don't think the time off would be that bad of a thing. he can dedicate 100% of his time to working on his skills and he needs as much as he can get with his shot and even his ball handling.

also, the nba is less volatile than the nfl but with both leagues the first game is always a mystery. between roster shakeups, no film to scout from and players improving/declining over the off season anything can happen.

and yeah, the fact that we're trying to compete and not "develop" makes a big difference.
