Pistons need to have Orlando beat New York, and they can lose to the Bucks by 4 or fewer points an still get in.

Hopefully they just get the W and its all moot, but the Bucks have been balling lately.

not feeling overly optimistic about this game but if they play with the effort they did against indiana then they have a shot. the problem is if the bucks play with playoff-type effort too then it's gonna be really tough. they're finally playing like a conference contender with their six-game win streak, we had absolutely no answer for giannis last game (no one has - he leads the league in scoring) and lillard is back as well.

aaaand they're going to be well-rested, having played only one game in the previous 6 days before tuesday. good luck!

If Cade plays, we have a chance. Obviously he plays, right? Would be such a great thing to win this one

Gotta hand it to the NBA - they got a bunch of people to care about some otherwise meaningless midseason games by creating this fake tournament. I didn't think it would work, but it seems like it did.

Start Stewart, not Duren! Stew is one of the best in the league at defending Giannis, and Duren absolutely deserves to be sent a message for completely no-showing the Sixers game. Enough is enough.

Yeah I think the "start Stew" narrative seems to be getting louder with each game that passes. He has been elite defensively this season. Also brings some additional spacing to the starting group.

Duren's variable effort levels and repeated careless turnovers are frustrating. And it's not like we're giving up on him, he can still continue to develop with 18-20mpg off the bench.

Props to Cade this season, because he was not very good finishing at the rim previously but now he's been much better this season at the rim. Honestly it feels like he's barely been blocked at the rim this year while he was constantly getting stuffed there in previous years. He's become more than just a mid range guy as a scorer.

That said, Tobias and Cade are both bottom 5 in the league in crunch time FG% (last 5 minutes of a game when the score is 5 or fewer points) which isn't good. The next thing we need to see improvement on is making the shots when it matters most.

The first thing a starting C should do in a game is to win the opening tap, because that can matter in the 4th quarter of a close game. Let me know when Stew grows 2-3" or develops mad hops and timing like Ben Wallace and then he should start. I'm much more concerned about who finishes the game. Let some dud C like Jerome James whose only real talent is winning the opening tap start, for all I care.

Duren is in a different league in rebounding however. I think that is being forgotten a bit. Yes Stu will contest the shot but then the opposition will get the rebound and a score quite often.
When Duren remembers to box out he’s an elite rebounder, there’s no 2nd chance points.

But whoever wins the opening tipoff also gets the ball to start the fourth quarter.... but the other team gets the ball to start the 2nd and 3rd quarters.... so reality is each team gets it to start twice.... There is no extra possession or anything for winning the tip off.

This is absolutely the funniest take I’ve seen on here in a while.

I like starting the game on a good note, and having the ball to start the 4th... so sue me!
And sure, PFs can also jump. I'd feel differently if we had a tall or uber-athletic PF. LOL.

I'll let you in on a secret: it's all fake. The championship, the trophies, the rings, the score, the game itself. It's all a construct. The only thing different about this construct is that it's newer. The only meaning of any of it is the meaning you choose to emotionally invest in it. You've chosen to do that about the overall season and the playoff championship because it's fun for you. I think it's fun that we're playing well and competing for this part of it.

Without looking at the injury report, I think the Bucks are going to crush the Pistons. Besides the Indiana game, the Pistons are starting to really struggle lately although Cade has been out a good chunk of those games, and the Bucks are rediscovering their form. I can see a 20+ point blowout tonight.

Giannis sees red anytime Stew is around. He'll likely obliterate us. Again. Basically just have to hope other guys aren't making shots. If they get hot from deep it's over.
