They need a veteran PG, he just got waived by the Pelicans.

I'm guessing Langdon wants to keep some flexibility with the open roster spot/cap space, but a vet PG who can facilitate would help this team a lot. He won't provide any spacing unfortunately.

Was averaging almost 7asg in 20 mpg this season. Can play defense. Definitely could help.

Trajan should do this. If he does nothing about this, I'll think less of him. It's beyond obvious we don't have anyone except Cade.

I feel like we should sign him at this point, we are 20 games in, if he fills the last spot at a minimum contract how much can that really hurt our flexibility.

Elfrid Payton would not be "great". He's a fringe nba player. The fact that he might get minutes for us doesn't mean he's any good. It just means the "sasser as a backup pg" experiment has been a big flop.

He’s very good at assist to turnover ratio. He might help as a depth guy, but he wouldn’t really make that much of an impact. He’s a poor shooter all around, but the poor free throw shooting is a bigger concern.

I’d rather just see Sasser get a more consistent role

I’d rather go after Brogdan.

Payton doesn't make any sense when he doesn't shoot the three ball and we already have players like Duren, Ausar, and Holland in the rotation. If everyone else on the roster could shoot you could go for a guy like him as an end of bench rotation player but given what we have already he makes zero sense IMO.

What would Washington want though?
Any combo of Hardaway Fontecchio Reed and 2nds is all I'd want to give up

This Pistons are a tanking team, can't see them giving up any futures for a vet PG in season.

Are we? I feel like we're on the fence, a young team showing a bit of progress who wouldn't mind making the play-in.

We aren't tanking....yet. I think it's pretty clear that langdon is taking at least the first half of the season to see how guys look in a real NBA system and decide who likely part of the longer term future. The vets are here to provide them a space to do that, not to maximize win and/or take away development time.

It would be good to sign Payton. Brogdon is always injured. It's too bad Monte Morris wasn't signed THIS year. He'd be perfect.

Schedule gets way harder and usually gets harder as the season goes deeper as better teams start separating from the worse teams. I see 1 game in the next 9 that they have an honest shot at winning. I think it's going to get ugly and fast, they just don't have the talent to sustain winning for long. They're better than last year, hard to be worse, but still a long ways to go to be considered in contention for a playoff spot and even play-in might be ambitious as there's only 4 other teams in the east that the Pistons are close to level or better than, Wizards, Raptors, Hornets and Nets. The other teams should separate eventually.

Getting Brogdon on this team makes sense on paper and in 2k, but dude is always hurt. If he is never available, what’s the point?

Think Monte Morris last year…it’s like he was never actually on the team, like some sort of sick dream.

Ya. True. You're right, I'm just hoping we can keep competing. Not looking to win a title or anything, just want fun competitive games. Need one more guy. A PG. Or a forward.

It's a few guys over the years I feel like we got either one year too late or one year too early. I'll never get over Dale Davis choosing Indiana in '05 over us, only to come the next season. If we had him in '05 we definitely beat San Antonio. Kwame Brown wasn't great by any means. But MAN if we had his big body against Boston and fat ass Perkins getting all those offensive rebounds, we beat them. Of course, Monte Morris last year was too early.

I feel like if we had Ish Smith a year earlier in 2015-16, then that young squad would've been better. We relied too heavily on Reggie Jackson heroics, and that heavy load led to his constant injuries. There's a couple more I'm blanking on.

Not starting a thread for this, but… nice win, Lions. We’re banged up as hell, and we find ways to win against good teams. Making my father, who passed away in August, proud. He was alive for their last championship, i was not.
