We only won 17 all of last year, and 2024 isn't even finished yet. I think coming out better gives guys confidence and why shots go in or out, the extra hustle plays, defense.

14 games is all the Pistons won last year, and could match that tonight. Insane.

Anyway, I have low expectations for tonight. Day after Christmas, young team, learning how to win, coming off two excellent road wins, you name it, all points to a loss, and a bad one.

With that said;

Team is 5-8 @home(38.46 win %)

Team is 8-9 @road(47.06 win %)

So there is hope there. For the Pistons to win, Cade is gonna have to lead the team. Come out with 100% effort, and drop 35-40 to get a W here. Kings have lost 4 in a row, and are gonna be out for blood.

For our lottery pick, the Kings are a team I want to have a better record than us at the end of the season. We get the 9th pick odds even as the #10 seed in the East as long as we have a better record than just the 11-15 teams in the East and the Pelicans, Jazz and Blazers out West. So hopefully at some point the Kings get it together this season, but after we beat them tonight. Thus far, adding DeMar has not worked out well for them at all. I think they would have been much better adding a pesky defender like Caruso or someone else that's more of a wing defender instead of another guy that they throw the ball to and everyone sits and watches him go to work like DeMar.

We should trade our lottery pick. We don't need to be younger. We need an All-Star to play alongside Cade. We finally get a franchise player. The time is now, not 15 years from now.. And if you go back 15 years, look at every lottery -- most are busts.

We don't have a lottery pick to trade at the moment. But I think once we get the pick (assuming we don't make the playoffs) trading the pick for a rotation player makes some sense. That said, the best case scenario is to keep the pick and just draft someone that ends up being a good rotation player. 9th pick or 10th pick $ is fairly cheap on a per year basis so if you can land any level of a rotation player that's great. Of course the downside is you can certainly get a bust as well. With a newer GM I for sure can see him want to make that pick to get another one of "his" guys on the roster that still has a ton of holdovers from the Weaver era.

Trading the pick could be disastrous this year. The top 5 all look like serious all-star threats, and the top 10 even.

Unless a real running mate for Cade is coming back, ain't no way.

You don't trade that pick until after the draft lottery, it would crazy to do it before that. Not sure how much value a mid to late lottery pick would have but you can't risk trading that pick before the lottery draw.

4 in a row, and all at home. Tonight is their last of a 5-game homestand. They were underdogs in all 4 games, and are now -5.5 tonight.

With your 3-point shooting and spacing, in what ways has that made things easier for Cade? Malik Beasley: “We’ve grown tremendously. After the first 30 games, he’s starting to realize that he has the nail help. For example, if I’m on the side and he’s driving at the nail to the free-throw line to get a pull-up, last year there would be a defender there helping him. This year, the defender has to stay close to me. So he has about four extra feet to work with, and he’s starting to realize that. At one practice, I said, ‘You probably don’t realize how open you’ve been, huh?’ And he said, ‘Nah, I haven’t!’ I said, ‘Listen bro, we got you.’ So we’re all using each other. The best thing about our team is our chemistry.”

A bit off topic but since someone else brought up beasley: If we were to extend beasley - which I really hope we do, what do people think the contract would be like? 3 years, $40m? Hard to get a value on him because he's just signed two cheap contracts in a row, but it feels like he should get paid get good money.

We were almost certainly the highest bidder this year. Strange thing is Lakers had him and didn't want to resign him and Bucks had him and didn't want to resign him. Both teams thought the grass was greener on the other side.

Sabonis has been ruled out tonight for the Kings. Duren has been cleared to play for the Pistons.

Even after reading that article. I have no idea if Beasley is any kind of vet leader, but frankly. I don’t care. Having a guy that can shoot, isn’t afraid to shoot, and is OK coming off the bench with an ultra green light has been EXTREMELY helpful.

Easily our best new addition. If Tobias and Tek were playing better, and if Duren could play some defense, we could be top 6 in the East. I haven’t given up on Duren yet, but he’s looking more and more like he has Bagleyitis on defense.

I know my team is worthy once I'm rooting for certain losses for other teams in The East.... OKC rallied and beat Indy a few seconds ago... Hopefully, Wizards can beat Charlotte. Not sure if the Hawks have a chance to beat the Bulls (who have the same record as us)
