Not relevant for this game, but Ausar didn't make the sophomore team for Rising Stars games during all-star weekend. Kind of a bummer since his brother is on the team but hopefully it motivates him to keep pushing harder and he gets a nice 11 days of rest over the all-star break to come back on a mission to lock us up in a playoff spot.
As far as this game goes, Indy has been playing really well lately on offense and defense. Over their last 10 games the Pacers have the 3rd best net rating in the entire NBA behind only OKC and the Clippers. They are top 10 in assists per game over that stretch as well with over 30 a game and they are near the top in steals per game also. I'd expect Cade to have a big TO game if they keep putting the pressure on like they have been.

Brandon Miller was included for sophomores, maybe they give Ausar the pity invite.
Same for the rookie team for Holland with Jared McCain out...what chaps my ass is that Reed Sheppard gets the invite under the G-League category...so if we demoted Holland to G-League this season he could've maybe earned the big invite? No need to include those scrubs in this event.

I think JB should shake up the starting lineup for this game --- try to throw Pacers for a loop and hopefully start the game off strong.
Duren plays awful against stretch 5s like Turner --- I think Tobias has played bad enough lately to get demoted for this one, and maybe bringing him off the bench can get him going again...go with Beef Stew to guard The LEGO Lover and see how Duren does against Siakam...OR throw Paul Reed to blitz and give us a different look and throw off Carlisle's gameplan....this way we can keep Beef Stew in his backup role.
Pacers likely going to double Cade like they did last game, so maybe makes sense to even look at Sasser getting some extended run. We need another ball handler so bad and games like this really show our biggest weakness.

Strategically it makes sense... but I don't wanna be yanking young guys in/out of the lineup based on matchups or even tough stretches. I'm more sympathetic to Tobias or one of our other vets being shuffled around in order to start the game with more energy. If we wanted to try out Holland for a spell I wouldn't be too upset, but I don't feel like our losing is a case of us needing to "shake it up" or anything. We've gotten beat by some better teams. And this is now the 5th or 6th game in a tough road trip. Just kinda be what it be.

I just think now is a good time to do it, with Tobias being questionable to play last game...and then playing like absolute ****. Blame it on his Orlando Magic "head-ache"
I like idea of throwing Holland in there if we do make a short-term change --- I think him or Bball Paul are the move that would cause the least disruption to the other guys in the rotation. Tough spacing with Ausar/Holland and Duren at once though...at least Paul is capable of hitting a three (yet maybe its the ugliest looking shot on the team with that weird slow hitch).
Expecting a chippy game tonight, and would love to feed the fire with some Ron Holland antics. Beef Stew is gonna be on ejection watch.

Ya, I'd love to replace Fontecchios minutes with Paul Reed. Don't think that's a big deal. Reed just seems to be a spark plug type when he gets in there. Fontecchio is doing absolutely nothing.
God i wish we could trade for Sexton. He would be fantastic right now for us.
Duren Stew
Tobias Reed
Ausar Holland
THJr Beasley
Cade Sexton

Reed was always doing good things on the floor. I thought we should have played Reed since Cavs had two big guys.

Andrew Nembhard (thoracic spine sprain) & Benedict Mathurin (illness) are OUT for tonight's game, per Pacers Coach Carlisle.
Plus the Pacers just returned a few days ago from a trip to Paris (France) to face off against the San Antonio Spurs. Spurs won by a large margin the 1st game, but the Pacers torched them offensively the 2nd game. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pacers are a bit out of rhythm to start the ballgame. In other words, this is a golden opportunity for the Detroit Pistons to get back on track after a 2 game skid.

Come on, man... Can't fall this early. I'm seeing the lack of urgency I saw last game.

This team needs to make some moves if they are serious about this season
