Sasser will unfortunately not get any minutes now because of Schroder

That sucks because I thought Sasser was improving and was good as a backup option.

Backup what? PG? Because no, he wasn't good at that role.

Before Ivey went down he definitely had an erratic role. He had a handful of games where he would play 15-20 minutes a few games in a row but then get DNP’s 2 games in a row.

I imagine it will be something like that again.

What, we can only have 2 ball handlers at a time on this team? I bet he still gets some burn, he earned it.

We went out and got Schroder because Sasser WASN'T good enough for that role.

That's the reality. We wouldn't have needed to do anything if Sasser was a-okay as a secondary ball handler.

Doesn’t mean he has lost his opportunity here. Maybe if Ivey was healthy…Dennis and Cade should play a good amount of mins together, with Sasser giving them a breather in short spurts.

Now is the time to shake up this lineup and get Beasley starting next to Cade. Can’t rely on Beasley to dig us out of the hole every game. THJ can take the bench gunner role.

If Lindy makes it into the rotation, then I would say Sasser mins are in jeopardy. Personally I would rather go small and bench Fontechio over Sass.

Sasser is criminally underrated on this board, and if he was a young guy (on lets say the Pelicans), we would all be clamoring for him for his potential.

The truth is, Sasser is way better than Killian Hayes. That said, he was playing really well but the last several games he hasn't been making his threes. I think he perhaps had a chance to play his way into us not making a move but he has just been ok. He's going to have that chance again next season most likely, to play himself into our backup PG spot.

I don't blame TL at all for going out and getting another guard after JI went down its what made the most sense.

Sasser's defense has been good. His steal rate is only behind Ausar and Reed on the team. His handling of the ball has been solid. His TO rate is lower than Ivey, Cade, Duren, Stew..... His assist to TO ratio is also very solid. He has a higher assist rate than Ivey as well. His TS% is now just barely above Ivey and Cade it was quite a bit better but he's been missing his threes the past several games so he's dropped from close to 60% down to 57% as of late.

I've been kind of waiting for him to have one of those nights where he gets rolling that we saw a few times as a rookie and he hasn't really done that this season.

It’s not that Sasser is a bad player…but I really don’t see what you’re talking about here. He has a nice handle and can shoot off the dribble, and the defense he plays for his size is very solid. He’s also small, doesn’t see the floor all that well, and can’t seem to play off-ball and shoot off the catch. He’s a very small iso shooting guard. He’s crappier Cam Thomas with better defense.

One mans trash is another mans treasure I guess. We have pumped up lesser players on this forum.

He's gotten plenty of minutes. He's ok, but limited.

Schroeder means Sasser will get less minutes in a role that doesn't fit him.

Sasser has been better than expected but it's not like he's been great. It's also very obvious his ceiling is super low.

Tek is one who needs to lose all his minutes, I have more faith in Basketball Paul contributing than Tek at this point.

Also THJ to the second unit to play with Shroder. Id like to see Cade and Beasley starting together, spacing will be there for both to excell.

Beasley doesn’t need spacing. That’s his superpower, making some fugly threes.

Schoeder's an expiring playing for his next contract. If he's good, he's unlikely to be here long-term. If he is, we have a very movable asset, and a good problem to have. The real issue is when Ivey comes back.

Ivey has been out for a while, there’s been an opportunity for Sasser to get a role. He’s still got kinks to work out, but it hasn’t really happened yet. Schroeder is more to offset the loss of Ivey and help take some pressure off Cunningham.

Dennis’ career of late is pretty much don’t buy, rent instead. I’d almost argue he needs his time in Detroit to work as much or more than the Pistons need him to work here. All things considered he’s a minor investment, and we basically got picks to take him in.

Sasser should view this as a challenge, especially with him being a draft pick of this previous regime.

Sasser did actually take two threes off the catch last game and make one. If he can do a lot more of that, he’ll find a role.

Sasser isn't somebody you save a spot for. He's fine as an end of the bench guy, but if he gets beat out for minutes then he gets beat out. *shrug* We are better with Shroder/Beasley.
