I'll be posting a bevy of stats in awhile, for a quick reference table!

First one-Pistons won the season series 3-1

I think even though we've played them well, they 100% have more talent and experience than us. They also have two really good wing defenders to go against Cade.

Biggest x factor IMO will be what KAT brings for the Knicks because we've struggled at times against stretch 5s. They obviously have a massive payroll losing to us in the first round would be a major let down for them.

We're playing on house money, I think winning a signle playoff game this year a success so hopefully we can play young and free and hopefully we have the confidence that we can actually win the series. I don't think we're likely going to win but I also wouldn't bet against us. I think its like 66% chance the Knicks win and 34% chance we can pull it out of Cade has a couple big games and we shoot really well for a couple of games as well. One thing is for certain, we're going to play them hard a physical its just that the playoffs is often another step beyond what many of these young guys on our team are used to.

This was the best case scenario of the potential playoff seedings. We matchup well against the Knicks and have obviously had their number this season. Indiana have played us well and nullify our strengths/expose our weaknesses, and have been on a heater recently. And I think of our last 29 games against the Bucks they have won 28...

The Pistons are 12-26 against teams .500+ this year so we also very much beat the teams we should beat (32-11 against teams below .500).

That's part of the reason why some people are still a bit skeptical on the Pistons they racked up a ton of wins against Washginton, Charlotte, Philly, Toronto, Brooklyn, etc.

Some people, rightfully so until the Pistons can prove themselves more..... still see them being close to the Heat/Hawks/Magic teams than the Knicks/Pacers/Bucks teams that have all proven it in the playoffs recently (Knicks and Pacers won playoff series last season and the Bucks have a top 3 player in the league).

I mentioned wanting to play Knicks also because it's a great introduction with the NYC hype and Madison Square Garden.

I went and read Knicks Reddit, and it got so bad, someone started a new thread "For Those Afraid of the Pistons".. Lots of Knicks fans think Pistons will win.. A few say "We're limping in" but most mention how we've played against them in 4 games.

I know they can steal one game in NY, and they can win two at home to go up 3-1... Knicks players might be tired. KAT usually goes ice cold in the most important playoff games. If we're healthy, we'll win.

Game 1 will be big. I think Knicks will come out and give us everything they've got. They've heard everyone saying Pistons have a chance to knock them out. If we can somehow steal game 1 then I will fully be on board with this team.
I do however expect us to lose game 1.
We're guaranteed to win game4 since I will likely be going there for that. So we just need to win gm2 or 3 so we can go back to NewYork tied 2-2 for game 5!

Need to get Stew healthy. They won't beat the Knicks with him, likely won't with him but at least they'd have a fighting chance.

So if someone told me - on start of the season - Detroit is going to playoffs and the opponent will be NY Knicks I would accept it and be happy about it.

Detroit exceeded every expectation, the team has great chemistry and Cade is now recognized as legitimate All Star and All NBA.

So lets now just enjoy the ride!

Thats said - Detroit in 6!

Pistons undeniably had a great season. Facing the Knicks in the first round is a big time challenge. Knicks have the talent advantage and home court. Pistons recent win comes with an asterisk given that NY was without OG and Hurt and their shot-blocking center. If the Pistons can steal a game or 2 to make it a competitive series I think that would suffice, Hopefully, this sets the Pistons up for a major upgrade at PF over the summer and to continued success in the playoffs in the future.

It’s all on KAT for offense for the Knicks. We have the personnel to make Brunson less effective than usual — Ausar, Holland, and Cade.

When you give KAT a big scoring load, he makes mistakes. He’s been prone to offensive fouls when things are called tighter — the playoffs. The dude is incredibly talented but not that coordinated. It’s always been his issue, key charges and travels when put under pressure. We need Stew ready to go, because Duren’s going to get worked a good amount of the time.

If KAT struggles and the Knicks don’t get scoring from their wings, we can beat them. Everyone in New York is complaining about how soft Bridges has been, similar to our complaints about Tobias at times. They’re both iron men because they don’t like contact. I expect both of them to be non-factors in a physical series. OG, however, could step things up.

As for Detroit, we aren’t a good half court team unless Cade is cooking. I expect to see OG on Cade a lot. We’ll try to get out and run as usual, but it’s harder in the playoffs and vs. a disciplined, Thibs-coached team. If we force turnovers, we can run, but that won’t be easy against Brunson’s ball control.

Should be a good series. Pistons in 6 if the above things go well. Knicks in 6 or 7 if they don’t. I think we win a couple games no matter what, and we should be happy with the season even if we don’t pull it out.

Missed free throws, foul trouble for key guys, and unforced turnovers are this teams Achilles heel, hopefully we have a good showing though!

I'm thinking about how we can get better next season
1. Ausar and Holland shoot 200 jumpers a day this summer.
2. Cut Paul Reed. Find his replacement through draft. Dan Wolf
3. See if Tobias, and Duran can pry JJJ from Memphis.
4. Resign Schroder
5. Sign Walker from Minny

1. Let’s go for 500 jumpers a day
2. Paul Reed is the least of our worries. He’s a great end of the bench big in my eyes.
3. I don’t see it a a realistic possibility.
4. I’d love to have him back but it’s going to come down to price.
5. Who would he replace? I’d prefer to keep Beasley and give Ivey the additional minutes.

I hope we can trade up into the later mid first round to snag Rasheer Fleming. He seems like the perfect heir to Tobias.
