Beasley robbed?

He finished second to Pritchard. I haven't watched enough Celtics games to complain but has someone that's done something like making the 2nd most of anything as a six man not won?
I can't imagine a 6th man with the second most rebounds in the league not winning, but I could be wrong? I guess more specifically offensive rebounds would be more comparable?

I think he did, it’s mainly the difference between playing in Boston and playing in Detroit.

Playing on a top 2 team in the league, and is a better ball handler and defender.... both are great three point shooters but Beasley carried more of a load for Detroit this season for sure.
I don't think he was "robbed" but I thought it would have been much closer than what it was.

That's what I was assuming.

Pritchard is a baller fellas. We get to see Monk everyday so it feels like a robbery but it definitely isn't. Both awesome players!

I think this was most expected of the three Pistons up for awards (with Cade for Most Imrpoved and JB for Coach). I don't have much of a problem with it and honestly I think BeasIey playing his worst ball of the season post all star break didn't help him - he went like 15 games without hitting 20 points. I think the real disrespect is that Dyson Daniels is a ten times favorite over Cade for most improved. After 5 straight years of Most improved player averaging 23+ points, Daniels is about to win it averaging 14 pts. Yes, he's very very good defensively, but historically that's been an after thought for the voters - until a Detroit player is up the award, of course.

Nah, PP deserved it. Beas scored a little more, but Pritchard was more efficient (TS+ of 110 to 102), had twice the assists with equal turnovers, more rebounds, etc. He also played a more important position (pg) and was somewhat better defensively.
Malik’s season would win it a lot of years, but Payton was definitely better.

Beasley was more "robbed" when he wasn't invited to the All-Star 3P contest.
Had Beasley won SMOY this year, we might have a harder time re-signing him.

No, he wasn't "robbed". You can make a case for him, but PP had a hell of a season and is more of a complete player.

Yes. If Beasley was on the Celtics, he would have won.

Beasley deserved it more, imo. I think the Pritchard narrative got set early in the year and not enough people bothered to rethink it as things went along.

These awards are often about narrative, but in this case the data supports the narrative.
Others in this thread have already laid out a solid case for PP so I won’t repeat their points. But I do think the narrative got it right this time.
Beasley had a great season though that shouldn’t require validation from an award like this.

I think either player has a solid case based on numbers. I think Beasley mattered more to winning.

Numbers, narrative aside, it's this. We would be wondering why Pritchard didn't win if he was on the Pistons.

Regardless of who you think should have won, you do really have to hand it to the Celtics. As much as I don't like them for historical reasons, that's a well run team. They drafted Pritchard in the late first round several years ago and have just been patiently bringing him along.
Super complete starting lineup plus the 6th man of the year. Yeah, a lot of what they are today stems from that stupid trade with the Nets all those years ago, but they've managed to add all the right pieces. Landing Derrick White a couple years back was a masterstroke, and they've added pieces like Holiday and Porzingis without sacrificing the core.

I am sure Pritchard had a much easier time getting his stats with the Celtics with the players they have around him than Malik did on the Pistons. Just sayin.

This absolutely is a fair argument.
I personally choose to evaluate these things based on what they actually did, rather than trying to extrapolate what they "might" have done, but I do understand how someone might want to go the other way with that. It's valid too.
I'm sure Beasley will be the first to tell you how great a fit Detroit was for him and how they put him in a position to have the best year of his career.

Pritchard deserved it. He is a really good player, and has not skipped a beat in the playoffs.

I was surprised he was drafted that late, he was cold blooded at Oregon.
