2025 Draft Lottery

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Sun May 11, 2025 1:28 am

It’s a bit weird to not be worried about the draft lottery after having that be the highlight of the season for us the last few years. And we didn’t have much luck of course. On that note, I have to include this:

Oh wow- I didn't think about it- hadn't even bothered to look up what day it was until just now.

How refreshing.

Glad we don’t have to deal with that stress of being let down Monday

Will be strange not seeing the Pistons logo when the 5th pick is announced.

I really like Cooper

Could see him being a leader like Cade but he’s bigger and a elite defender

Flagg is not a Cade-level leader, from what I’ve seen.

But basketball player? Hoo boy, he can do just about everything.

There's an instinct to feel left out on lottery day.

Then I remember

A) The misery that must be endured in order to wind up in the lottery
B) The misery of LOSING the lottery

And I find that feeling goes away pretty quickly.

I'm not sure I will ever get over being bumped down to 5 in the Wemby lottery. Last year's didn't really matter since it was such a weak class (I kinda expected the Pistons to get #1 because of that), but 2023 was a nut punch that nearly turned me off the NBA, with the year of Monty that followed not helping.

Agreed that it was brutal.

Being in a situation where your entire franchise's future is dependent on a one in seven chance of landing a truly great player (which is about what the odds cap out at these days) simply isn't a healthy place for a franchise or fanbase.

If Houston moves up we could see a big push for Giannis. Don’t think they move Flagg though.

Also interested to see what happens to the Jazz at #1

They better fall back like we did

3.8% chance and they were a 50 win team this year. The Suns' fault for making stupid moves and not getting their pick this year mind you, but still, Houston getting to add Cooper Flagg to that core would feel like the ultimate injustice.

Wemby and Cade would’ve been such a crazy combo

I don’t want to be a NBA downer, but I’m about 60% sure Wemby will basically be on the floor 60% of his career

Its a long process... there are actually 1000 combinations I believe so a team with 14% chance at #1 has 140 different number combinations and often times they win over and over again. It also starts with #1 first and then works its way back to #4 pick so not great at building suspense.

Then fix it…come up with a way where there is more transparency. This could be a huge event with massive ratings if they changed it up.

The draft order will forever be looked at as rigged until they do this.
