Best Available Player for Ausar + Tobias + picks
Not saying I want to do this or would do this (I'm firmly on team "run it back") but since "big upgrade" is currently winning the poll and these are the pieces I think would lead to the biggest upgrade (Ausar for having the most value on the team as a trade piece outside of Cade and Tobias for having the biggest cap number and the picks because they're picks).
So could we get Cade a proper "Robin" for this package? And if so, who? And would they be worth it or would we be better off keeping Ausar, Tobias, and the picks?

Trading Ausar is not a palatable option. What I'd want in return for his potential is far and away above what anyone would pay.

I'm going to place myself in the minority here.... but I'm open to trading Ivey, Duren and one of Ausar/Ron before I consider trading Harris. Build a package and go get Bam. But Harris & Stew stay.

That sounds crazy to me, but I'll hear you out. What did you have in mind? Because on paper, Ivey, Duren, and Ausar or Ron for Bam seems like a huge backwards step, but even if you think otherwise, I just don't even see how it's feasible. Ivey, Duren, and Ausar make a combined $25M next season and Bam makes $37M (and then $55M average the next 3 seasons). If you want Bam, you'd have to move Harris and/or Stew's contract. Or Cade's, but that's a non-starter.

It will take someone elite to move on from Ausar. He could be DPOY some day.
I’d rather trade Duren. Or anyone not named Cade.

Yeah, the problem with big game hunting or going for a "big upgrade" like the poll (last I looked) favors, is that Harris almost *has* to be moved as part of it, or the money doesn't work.

Yeah, I don't want to trade him either, but the question isn't "should we?" it's "what could we get?"
I'm talking elite here, as in a "Robin" for Cade (which we're not getting without Ausar involved, imo).

The only thing I might do for that is Giannis, cuase he’s the only piece worth giving up on with Ausar and extras

Re: Best Available Player for Ausar + Tobias + picks
Two schools of thought here.
The Pistons are far, far closer then anyone thought. Langdon handed Cade a few average players, and the team took off like a rocket. East is wide the hell open. Cade just came in 7th in MVP voting at 23, in his 3rd(injury shortened one not counted by me)full season. Cade will be 2nd team all-nba. The Pistons absolutely have a top 10 player.
One of Ausar/Holland can be shipped. They are seemingly redundant, unless anyone here believes one of them can play PF. (Think guarding KAT)
Stick and stay, with perhaps an upgrade at the PF position, not swinging(Langdons intention stated clearly)or, find out what Cade can do with a true, proven second star right now.
Both choices obviously present risks, although, waiting has a lower risk, as one of Duren/Ivey/Ausar/Holland could become that second star, and they are all so damn young, another season won't hurt anything, and properly assessing them becomes easier.
I am of the mind that both can be done, if the right opportunity presents itself. I am of the firm belief, that if the team landed Naz Reid, which albeit seems unlikely, it would create a formidable unit.
Cade/Schroder
Ivey/Beasley
Ausar/Holland
Naz/Harris
Duren/Stewart
I am also unsure if this is even possible to do, while retaining everyone else, Just stating my wish for the offseason.
I firmly believe the Pistons will have a top 5 backcourt next season(could be top 3), and have an excellent bigman rotation as well, with Duren/Stew. I also am enamored with the Ausar/Holland pair, as both are excellent defenders, and if Holland starts shooting 36%+ for three(the most likely of the pair to start excelling)the team is going to be extremely tough to beat.
I believe that a younger, three-point shooting 4, with some defensive chops(Naz)can make this team a beast.

I don't get this notion that Ausar is untouchable. Unless he learns to shoot -- and though I'm hopeful, the odds are against him -- he's not going to be a particularly good player. The value he brings on defense will be severely eaten into by what he subtracts on defense in that scenario, particularly in the postseason.

Totally disagree. He is a great on ball defender, which is very valuable. He is a great athlete, even compared to all the athleticism in the NBA. He should only get better as he learns defensive nuances and gets more respect from officials. I don’t think any of this is debatable.
His offense isn’t bad - he’s got a good handle, can get to the rim, get offensive boards. If you’re judging him entirely 3pt %, yes, he’s obviously not good there. Yet. He’s all of 22 years old. If he can just become an average 3pt shooter, he could become an AllStar.
On top of that, he’s on a rookie deal. It’s much better to keep a rookie too long than deal him too early because of the low carrying cost.

And from ChatGTP:
Notably, Thompson has been working diligently to enhance his shooting skills. Reports indicate that he has been putting in extra effort during training sessions to improve his three-point shooting . Additionally, his midrange shooting percentages are promising, with a 44.8% success rate from 10–16 feet and 41.0% on all midrange shots . This suggests that he possesses the touch necessary to develop into a more consistent long-range shooter over time.

You tell me! Does a package of Ausar, Tobias, and lets say, two firsts get any of those guys? I'm not so sure.

Unless Giannis calls his shot and says he wants to come to Detroit and will hold out everywhere else, I don't think we can compete with other suitors.

And, most important for this thread (which, after all is not about whether folks want to trade Ausar, but what they think we could get for him), Ausar is probably our most valuable trade piece outside of Cade.

Not to mention the Bucks probably won't be particularly thrilled about trading him to a team they have to play four times a year who would be ahead of them in the division standings all year. They wouldn't unless they had to. And a scenario in which they have to is hard to conceive.
The notion of Giannis being traded to the Pistons is not a rational one. It's a fun idea but it's not happening.
