Pistons gauging trade market on Simone Fontecchio
Michael Scotto: Sources: Pistons gauging trade market on Simone Fontecchio (expiring $8.3M). With Malik Beasley’s gambling investigation, Kings to pursue Dennis Schroder, if DET loses Tim Hardaway Jr, & a Fontecchio trade, DET may create $24M in space to pursue Nickeil Alexander-Walker & others.

Dorian Finney-Smith declined his option. He's a great defensive player. Good guy. Doesn't need plays called for him. And he shot 41-42% from 3 last year.

Trade Tech+Sasser and go for Simmons from the a Celtics. Handles our Beasley problems, gives us an expiring contract and allows us to run a true 3-guard rotation.
Cade/Simmons
Ivey/Simmons
Ausar/Holland
Harris/??????
Duren/Stew

No way Celtics do that.

Anfernee Simons is one of the lowest effort defenders in the whole league. Trae Young territory.
Beasley’s no stopper, but he’s a lot better on that end than Simons. At least he tries.
Say no to Simons.

If we were honestly considering this, then I believe Collin Sexton would already be a Piston

Nobody could help Boston save more money than us (we’ll okay the Nets but they aren’t buyers).
He’d still command a steep price.

This free agency is getting duller by the moment with all these guys unrestricted and restricted getting locked up. NBA free agency has been dead for the last numbers of years but even moreso this offseason. Giant borefest, putting an even bigger emphasis on drafting and developing or giving up a boatload of 1sts for a high level role player.

Lebron opted in and his agent alluded to wanting a trade… Tobias, stew and Ivey for Lebron works salary wise. One can dream right?

Dear God please get Max Strus over Levert or Duncan.

I would just go after Ty Jerome or something instead of wasting money on Robinson or Caris. Can just sign THJ to do what they do.

C: Duren(26) / Stew(22)
F: Tobias(31) / Front(17)
F: Ausar(33) / Holland(15)
G: Ivey(33) / Holland(15)
G: Cade(34) / Sasser(14)
Good news is we have a 9 man rotation before bringing anyone back. That lineup obviously could use at least one more piece(shooter for sure, unless HOlland/Ausar take big jumps there and Font goes back to previous season sharp shooting). But I don't feel like we should be in too much of a panic considering the fact we already have guys capable of playing solid NBA rotation minutes. Two years ago Font was our 2nd best player to close out a 14 win season and now he's our 9th man even before adding anyone.

So, deals for LeVert and Duncan Robinson seem more likely than not then? Maybe two years with third year team option?
C: Duren/Stewart/???
PF: Harris/???/Klintman
SF: Thompson/Holland/Fontecchio
SG: Ivey/LeVert/Robinson/Lanier
PG: Cunningham/Sasser/???

For the love of god, do not even consider Lavert.
Would also be terrified of Ty Jerome. Undersized, bad defense and is gonna expect a huge pay day. Take a hint that if the Cavs are willing to move on, maybe he is not worth the while.

Sigh....
What a turn of events.
My preference would be to stay over the cap and sign Shröder and Thjr with their rights and then use our MLE on NAW or Aldama but that appears to not be enough to get them. Maybe we split it on Ty and Duncan or Levert. Meh.
Be a cap space team and likely have to deal away Tek so we can have somewhere like 24-27million in cap space and get Aldama or NAW and one of Duncan or Levert with the rest. Then have room exception of 8mil to offer someone.
We're in a pickle of a situation kids but at least our main core starters are intact with Holland and Stew off the bench still.
