How does the off season play out now?

Now that we’ve seen a lot of people’s top targets resign and the Beasley investigation where do you think the Pistons go from here this off season. The biggest question is do we spend the Beasley money and move on or do we wait and see how his investigation plays out? The only other realistic option may be a sign and trade for Aldama.

Most likely outcome imo
Pistons sign Nik Alexander Walker to a 3 year deal
Pistons resign Dennis
If Beasely investigation plays out well into the summer/fall nobody will have any real money left and we can resign him to a 1 year prove it deal. We don’t need him and NAW though so one of them will get traded at the deadline. Sasser, Fonty, either Beasley, or NWA, and maybe even Tobias all could be shipped at some point.

Cade/Dennis/Sasser
Ivey/NAW/Beasely
Thompson/Holland
Tobias/stewart/Fonty/klingman
Duran/Stewart

New second round pick plays in g league if both Naw and Beasley can be signed. He then moves up at trade deadline.

What do you guys think are realistic options for the our off season with who’s left.

I think Trajan takes a bigger swing than expected, out of necessity. We can throw those comments from his presser last week out the window.

Gotta be something bigger than Robinson or Lavert. Those would just be steps backwards.

Schroder was the engine many times in the playoff that either made a shot or made a good pass for basket.

The whole team looked better because there was a floor general out there when Cade was tired or sitting. Honestly the team could use a full on second ball handler even with Schroder and Cade. Maybe that is Ivey but he plays with his head down too much, he doesnt have the PG mindset to make the rest of the team better.

Just my opinion but it seems obvious watching the team with Schroder playing up tempo, moving the ball, team looked better even with Beasley shooting like crap.

Whatever happens, I think I've reached the level of "Trust Trajan," like Brad Holmes on the Lions. No second guessing - whatever he does is reasonable, given the circumstances.

I really like what Trajan has done so far. He's earned praise for being a big part of the turnaround last year. But the team was so badly managed last year it really was addition by subtraction with when Weaver and Monty were let go.

This offseason is a completely different animal in terms of GM skills. There are many, many ways in which he can make bad moves that hurt us in the long run. There is also a nice opportunity to continue to improve although there are obstacles to clear for that. Let's see if he/his team are up to the challenge.

He just hasn't fully earned the sentiment you are trying to heap on him... yet.

Unfortunately our own best free agent was taken off the board right before free agency. In that situation steps backward do happen sometimes.

Not saying that's what we're looking at, but it could happen.

I don't think even Trajan himself expected the free agent signings & hiring of JB to work it out as well as it did for us.

But so far, so good. I think Shroeder would be a huge loss and hope we are able to retain him...dunno what he's looking for $$ wise.

Honestly, the only way I see this team getting a young shooting 4 or 5 is via the draft. Yes, you may can trade for one but they're usually over priced. In hindsight, we should have traded into the first rd to get one. Harris 25 mill salary is going to drop after the season and you're in the same spot again next season

So yeah... I wouldn't say that the offseason is going quite up to what folks would have imagined or wanted so far....

A bad surprise in terms of Beasley for certain but there have definitely been folks that could have helped us that have gone by and signed for fairly reasonable contracts (e.g. NAW, Aldama and LaRavia). Only having Caris LaVert at almost the price of NAW and BBall Paul instead is less underwhelming to say the least. Addressing the dearth of outside shooting with Duncan Robinson is not exactly inspiring either...
