OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges in trade NYK-MIL for Giannis Antetokounmpo
In a potential trade between New York and Milwaukees for Giannis Antetokounmpo, we could enter as the third team and acquire either OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges.
It seems New York would have to include those two players, in addition to draft picks, since I think I heard Milwaukee doesn't want Karl-Anthony Towns.
Preparing a possible simulation, it could look something like this:
Trade successful!
Pistons acquire Mikal Bridges & Guerschon Yabusele
Bucks acquire Tobias Harris, Jaden Ivey & OG Anunoby (DET 1st 2026, DET 1st 2028, NYK SWAP 2026 & WAS 1st 2026)
Knicks acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis & Thanasis Antetokounmpo (DET 1st 2030)
Opinions?
The logical thing would be for them to keep Ivey and all the draft picks, also trade OG Anunoby for more draft picks, as well as other members of the current roster, and begin a rebuild.

Bucks can't outright tank for their rebuild as they don't own their own FRP's. Will try to retool rather than rebuild and might even look to move the NYK picks for now players.

Re: OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges in trade NYK-MIL for Giannis Antetokounmpo
The most likely trade scenario would be one of OG or Bridges going to a team that currently owns the Bucks picks/swaps. That's Atlanta, New Orleans, and Portland.
Would Portland want out of Jerami Grant to get one of Bridges or OG and be willing to give the Bucks their picks back?
Seems like we'd almost be more likely to be the the 4th team in a trade like this, or a team that uses its trade exception to absorb someone back like Bobby Portis to make the $$ money in a deal.

I get what you’re saying here but they don’t really have a path to retooling for anything meaningful here. IMO their best play is still to build up draft capital. The Knicks don’t own many picks to trade to them- the only way they’re getting picks via Giannis is via third team.
Teams out west are in a better position and more likely to be involved though. The Knicks would rather not send one of their best players to a conference rival when sending them out west is an option- all other things being equal of course.
And from the Bucks side, I’m sure the they would love to deal with Atlanta- who owns Bucks picks. That’s a stronger possibility than dealing with us too.

3 firsts and Ivey/Unc seems like a whole lot to give for Mikal, but I'd do it....if we could get Beef Stews buddy Portis somehow it may be easier to swallow.
Understand the people who prefer OG over Mikal, but OG is always hurt and Mikal is one of the most available dudes all-time.

Who starts at the 4? Bridges is 6'6. Unless you are suggesting starting Stewart/Duren like we did during the bad times...

Guess it would be Portis in that scenario.
Duren/Stew/Paul
Portis/Yabusele
Ausar/Holland
Mikal/Dunc
Cade/Jenkins
On second thought, i'm probably good on this trade lol. Back to the drawing board.

That situation with 3 less first round picks doesn't seem so great to me either. Portis and Mikal are your shooters, and Cade/Ausar/Duren don't shoot well. Back to the drawing board indeed!
But really, it's always going to suck to have Cade/Ausar/Duren in the lineup together. Tobias, Duncan, and Ivey aren't the problem. Until we split up that threesome or at least one of them learns to shoot, we're going to have spacing issues in the starting lineup. They all seem like they deserve to start, but the combo of them is a problem now that other teams have adapted to our shooting woes.

Good OP. While this trade isn’t likely to happen unless Giannis demands to go to NY, it does show the we could be facilitators. This might be a better approach than giving up a ton to get Lauri. Maybe just cherry pick when an opportunity like this comes up.

Agreed, and I understand people are down on Cades shooting right now (rightfully so) --- I have no doubt that he will improve on that with time.
Also, nobody expected Duren to make the leap he did, so I don't think it is out of the question that Ausar or Holland are capable of making a similar leap within the next year or two and become a decent enough shooter to shore up that side. My money is on Holland for that, and Ausar stays in the defender/dunker spot role and sticks to what hes good at.

I don't think the Pistons would be able to get impact players via being the 3rd team. More like salary dumps.

I think Portis is the one ---- he only signed back with Bucks due to Giannis, and if Giannis is gone, he's gone.

Agree with this. But we’re not trading away our core or a bunch of FRPs. Maybe that’s where we get our impact from.
I do wish I had a bug on TLs phone and hear what kind of deals he actually gets offered.

No doubt 99% of them heavily favor the other team. I think this team is fine in their development mode as they are improving each season significantly and be patient over the next year or two til the next Sheed level deal pops up. Fans just want to win right now as if NBA is played like NBA2k

Re: OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges in trade NYK-MIL for Giannis Antetokounmpo
So we trade away 3 1sts, Tobias, Ivey and we get back Bridges and Yabousele or Portis and Yabousele?
I know we are hoping that we will be good enough to where our 1sts are way less valuable but Portis is 30 and Yabousele is 29 and frankly salary filler.
What are we doing here? Why not just keep Tobias and our 1sts and hope that Ivey regains his form and ignore the folks throwing him into the dumpster 7 GAMES after coming back from a major injury.
smh
There's even a story on the front page saying how most owners are now reluctant to give out multiple firsts for stars in the current salary cap era...

Trajan Langdon would have to be absolutely insane to do anything remotely close to those deals. Heck, I would only trade a lottery protected 1st for Bridges. Also, I like Tobias better than Portis or Yabo and like Ivey's potential more than Bridges.

I don't think he ends up in NY. He has 2 season + player option, I can see teams risking him to walk after the 2 seasons if that means a chance to win or to convince him.
Orlando can offer better stuff, the Spurs too and even Cleveland or the Blazers.
But in case of Anteto going to NY we need to try to get OG. He is locked 3 years.

Yeah, OG is the prize and the fit if we were to get into something like this.
