Hello Detroit fans,
Someone has recently proposed this trade on the bucks forum, and we would like to see how you feel about it.

Aaaron Afflalo
Rodney Stuckey
Filler/Expiring contract
1st round pick

for

Michael Redd

Some say this is awful trade for us, some say it is a bad trade for you guys. What do you think?

I say no. We dont need Redd.

And Stuckey/Afflalo are our future

I don't think it makes a lot of sense for Detroit from a needs standpoint. We'd wind up w/ 2 starting SG and no backup pg. I'm not disputing that Redd >>> Stuckey, but unless he can backup Chauncey I don't see how it really helps us.

From a value standpoint for the Bucks I don't think it's horrible. Prior to breaking his hand the last pre-season game a lot of scouts were already talking about Stuckey being a steal at 15 and in his few games back he's already showing he can ball. I'm not sure Afflalo will ever be any special, but he looks like he could be a solid role player in this league. But I still don't see why the Bucks would want to do this.

Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for either party, imo.

No from me as well. Michael Redd is a great shooter, but Stuckey/Afflalo bring intangibles already that Redd could not provide for us. Plus we add in filler and a 1st... no way.

Bucks fans seem to have really soured on their whole team and Mike Redd is getting the brunt of it from the detractors. I believe the feel is that he's more about his points/stats than winning games.

As has been mentioned, it just doesn't work for us as there wouldn't be enough minutes to go around with neither Rip and Redd able to play the point.

I don't think Michael Redd would be any better then Richard Hamilton. His contract is way too much, I think he's a good player on a bad team. Sorry, but I would pass on that deal. The Pistons don't do awful contracts either, the Pistons can afford to wait on Stuckey and Afflalo, one or both of them could be future stars/starters in the league.

Micheal Redd makes $14.5 million dollars.

Detroit could trade these 6 players to make it work.

Amir $3.66
Brezec $2.75
Hermann $1.95
Murray $1.90
Stuckey $1.57
Afflalo $0.95

Total $12.78 million

I think it'd be in the Bucks best interest to trade Redd for some young guys.... but I don't think that Detroit is a realistic option at all.

By the way I guess our playoff rotation would be...
C:Sheed(32)/Max(16)
PF:Dice(32)/Max(16)
SF:Prince(36)/Rip(12)
SG:Redd(36)/Rip(12)
PG:Billups(36)/Rip(12)

7 guys all playing 32-36 MPG.

Another jump-shooter who doesn't play defense. Just what we need.

i wouldnt mind offering a less rich offer for Ben Gordon he would be a super 6th man for us. Can he play any point?

Um.. No thanx

Micheal Redd worth 2 07 first rounders + an 08 an expirings? I really dont think so.

I dont understand what Detroit oculd possibly need with Redd. A 14 million dollar player coming off the bench for Rip for what- 15 minutes a game?

Detroit gives up a future stud pg in Stuckey, solid role player in Afflalo a late 08 first for a jumpshooter that would only play limited minutes. Pistons pass easily.

Value wise its fine. Its not like were getting fleeced or anything like that.

But I think the Pistons are satisfied with the way they are set both short term and long term at the guard positions, adding an expensive piece like Redd doesnt make a ton of sense.

I would prefer to keep all our young guys, so I'll pass.

If we are going to trade for overpayed two guards, there are plenty out there I'd rather have, for less. Ben Gordon/Joe Johnson/Jason Richardson to name a couple.

Having Stuckey as a viable back-up to Billups is critical for this team. If another team wanted him, they would have to offer either another viable PG somewhere in the trade or grossly overpay in the talent department. I think this is a perfectly fair offer, but it just isn't one that would help the Pistons so well.

Additionally, when you are looking like the best time in the league it seems dumb to trade your entire bench for a player that only plays one position where you have an entrenched starter who also plays one position.

as a Pistons fan, hell yeah I would do it. We could play a three guard rotation for a stretch and score mad points!

Are you serious? How would that help the Pistons score mad points? Three guards fighting for the ball?

And when Chauncey has to sit down?

...........

Rip with Redd as the backup? Or Redd with Rip as the backup?

.............................................

Wow, talk about overkill. Plus I'm sure Redd is going to be thrilled from being as a star player averaging big minutes and the leading scorer.................. to playing 15 minutes a game and averaging like 12 points a game.

Yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense.

What about Redd for Prince + Amir + 08 first?

Obviously when we're playing this good and dominating teams its hard to imagine us trading away a starter, but this deal could really help up light teams up.

Biggest reason to not pull the trigger is the loss of Prince's D, but perhaps we would be ok with Affalo being a defensive stopper off the bench?
