As A big pistons fan I don't believe it for one minute. But a thread about it came up at a forum i post on and I wanted to get some more opinions from piston fans.

After the Boston loss Chauncey convinced me that he shaves points. If you didnt see the game, with about ten to twenty seconds left in the game the pistons were down two and "Mr. Big Shot" was at the line. he makes the first and bricks the second, he gets the long rebound, the clock is running. He clears everybody out from under and around the basket ( right now hes holding the ball on the left wing far behind the three pointline...damn near out of bounds) The clock is at four seconds now and Chauncey pulls for a three over Paul Pierce and he airballs. When is the last time yall seen Chauncey airball????? Also in the Eastern conference finals the year that the Heat won it all Chauncey was locked up by GP the same GP that he earned the Finals MVP on two years earlier. The next year Chauncey led the league in the Assist/turnover ratio. In the playoffs versus the cavs ( ECF 07) Chauncey led all players in turnovers!!! This is no coincidence. When we won in 04 Chauncey made all the big shots in the clutch. He still does sometimes but too often he fakes for the foul and throws up some bs and jumps into the defender ad the foul doesnt get called... Ridiculous

He didn't have an off night. He played fine until the 4th quarter. As a die-hard true-blue Pistons fan, I gotta say that I'm starting to believe that sh*t too. The OP didn't even tell yall everything. That was just the final straw. Before that particular instance, about 3 times he drove the lane and forced a stupid shot against at least 3 defenders with multiple open players. Then, down the stretch with the score close, he missed 3 out of 4 free throws. He NEVER does that. And he was 5-5 before that. One miss, I can dust that off. But he was having no problems till the end of the 4th, then he forced several bad shots, missed 3 out of 4 free throws, and it culminated in what the OP was talkin about. Then, to top it all off, he walks off the court laughing and says something to KG. He's too fu*king cheerful after he SOLELY costs us a game. He did the same thing against Cleveland in the playoffs last year.

Now I don't think he's point shaving, I just think he's throwing games.

bullsh*t so i guess him being one of the best free throw shooters ever and flip taking him off techs in the clevland series was a coincidence too? the radios up here been on too it ask dee. they panned him last year. my father even called me with his friends and all said the same sh*t. not to mention lebrons so called breakout game its mighty funny chauncey went over to flip and asked to check lebron before the explosion and when flipped tryed to get him help he said no. sportstalk radio went crazy about that sh*t. like whiteboy mike on the radio said. ''you dont find that fishy that you decide to guard a man twice your size and height in the crucial moments and he goes off? not even that you declined help visibly?'' the callers flooded in not to mention if that wasnt enough guess who was on boobie in his breakout preformance next game the sh*t was so obvious its ridiculous and im not even a pistons fan but come on man. you dont know how many calls i got asking why is he guarding that **** when the you got tayshun rip woouldve even done a better job. but i saw with my own eyes him tell flip to let me have him like rasheed said this sh*t is the WWE my pops was heated this **** chauncey visibly threw that series i we got the BX threads to prove it i wasnt the only one with a thread. the **** rip hamilton was pissed he wasnt even looking for rip off the screens and he was wide the fu*k open and everybody saw when him and rip got into it. the sh*t was so blatant. he wasnt finding sheed on the blocks are on mismatches.. he totally fu*ked up the offense and lindsey even said it to george blaha and the press his exact word were ''something just aint right'' on fox sports FSN. he would hold the ball then run in and brick 5 footers off the top of the fu*king rim man! he wouldnt run the damn play at all and everyone would be wide open. and the who the fu*k misses 5 footers outside of odom? who? and the freethrow sh*t was the last straw even flip couldnt take it

I like it.... The Pistons can never lose fair and square..

I wish that was the explanation for his play. 2 years ago I was all over the Internet calling him the best PG in the league and saying he was head and shoulders above Steve Nash etc. Since then he has made so many stupid plays down the stretch of games I feel like my cred has taken a hit.

At one time he looked like an all-time player that toyed with other teams but now he looks like an all-star that can't get his team to live up to it's potential.

This is about the stupidest thing I've ever read. Chauncey has always bad stretches. In fact his few years in Detroit is virtually a given he'd be absolutely horrible in the month of January (I think that's the right month). For 3 or so years it was like clockwork - he'd just go into this horrible funk for about a month where he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

He was also horrible in the post-season. In fact he's had more bad playoff series than good ones, but the good ones have been more memorable. People forget just how bad he looked on the way to that '04 Finals appearance because of what he did once he got there, but he was our worst starter against the Pacers, and certainly had his struggles against the Nets. That Cavs performance wasn't some aberation and mostly just showed that if you put a bigger defender on Billups he will look like absolute garbage.

Chauncey doesn't shave points - he just isn't as clutch as everybody likes to pretend he is.

What's weird about Chauncey is that, while not as clutch as he's made out to be, he is super important to this team. The team just doesn't function well when he's not playing, and I really don't know why.

What ya didn't see that game against Phoenix when Murray absolutely owned Nash?

I find it hard to believe ANYONE would lose games on purpose...

I truly do believe that the players fix games and shave points, I dont know how they keep it a secret from the general public. If you think about it though look at the WWF, Hulk Hogan is a multi multi millionaire and he loses matches on purpose. The NBA can not be pure because there is too much money centered around it, if you want to look at a game that was fixed, look at the atlanta hawks game at the palace of auburn hills last year and watch the final minute. The line was 7.5 and there is no doubt in my mind that RIP turned over the ball under the basket on purpose. Gambling is bigger than McDonalds, I would like to know if more money is spent at McDonalds or Gambling in the United States. I really think people fail to realize what a big industry gambling truly is. I have a lot of friends and most of them gamble in some way.

Bad analogy. Hulk Hogan is supposed to lose matches; it's scripted. In other words, he's doing what he's supposed to do, what his employers expect him to do, and what he's getting paid to do.

Greed doesn't stop when you get money, even if it's a lot of money. But I don't buy it.

Billups sometimes gets over excited, and tries to go to fast. He's always done this, it is especially occurs when he has to work hard to bring the ball up, which Boston was doing to him. Rember the championship year and the Tayshaun block, Billups was in the process of losing that game w/bad shots and out of control turnovers, in fact Reggie Miller's layup attempt was off a Billups bobble.

Just to add to how stupid this is.

I believe before the Celtics game, the Pistons had a stretch of covering the spread of like 19-1 which is just crazy and almost never happens. If you would have bet on the Pistons 20 you would have won 19! Sometimes they were 12 or 15 pt favorites over teams and they were still covering the spread!


I think if a player ever was to do this, it would be in a game were they were heavy favorites so that they could still win.

I don't believe Chauncey needs to throw games, but there have been points during recent broadcastings where you can read his lips and he's up to something.

Chauncey made a boneheaded play in the second quarter. Herrmann went up to him and try to console him, Chauncey said "I don't care, don't worry about it," and then smiled and proceeded to walked off the court.

Then in the final minutes, he sat on the bench and smiled from under that damn towel while his team was losing by 20+ pts to the Knicks. His teammates looked embarassed and pissed... he was all smiles.

I think this is why Rasheed has been to upset lately, I think he knows what's up and ain't too happy about it. Whether it could be proven true or false is another matter all together.... but something is definitely up with Billups.

If you notice, Prince is kind of smirking, too. I think it's because they were trying to find something positive about the game, and Amir's thunderous jam gave them something to at least smile about.

The likelyhood of Billups shaving points is the likelyhood of Barry Bonds not being on steroids.

Where was this talk during their 11 game win streak? Or the win over San Antonio?
