Hamilton hit 16 of 22 shots, including a career-high five 3-pointers. Amazingly, not once did the Raptors adjust their defense against him, leaving a series of defenders (Anthony Parker, former Piston Carlos Delfino, Jason Kapono and others) to take their medicine.

He scored 12 in both the third and fourth quarters, helping the Pistons separate themselves from the Raptors. "When Rip is moving and we are passing the ball, he's tough to defend," coach Flip Saunders said. "When we are stagnant, he is easy to defend. I think, too, Rip came out knowing he didn't play well in New York and like everybody else, he wanted to come out and get back to playing the way we are supposed to play."

McDyess finished with a career-best seven steals, along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. "Dyess was huge in this game," Billups said. "He always has a tough, tough matchup and he had one tonight with Chris Bosh (16 points, 11 rebounds). He was great."

Rip Hamilton was very impressive. I agree that we should be giving Afflalo more burn. He did nothing to work himself out of the rotation. So Hayes gets hot for a few games, okay - I'm fine with it. Now let's go back to the kid. It is obvious that we ran our offense through Rip Hamilton tonight (which can be run for Afflalo more too). I can understand Flip tightening the rotation to get our players back in rythm, but lets hope he doesn't forget about the bench for our upcoming games. All and all, a very efficient victory (hard to get too mad).

I love it when Hamilton is taking shots the WHOLE game, not just the 1st half.

Hamilton was practically flawless against the Toronto Raptors. As usual, the shooting guard was in constant motion, shaking off defenders with quick, deceptive cuts off the ball.

And as hot as Hamilton was Tuesday -- he missed only one shot each in the first, second and fourth quarters -- the Raptors never wavered from their plan of playing him straight up. They never tilted the defense to give Hamilton a different look, nor did they double-team him.

McDyess, who helped hold forward Chris Bosh to 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting, set the tempo in the third quarter as he grabbed an offensive rebound, made a block and had three steals in the opening four minutes. From there, the Pistons went on a 12-2 run to build their lead to 18 in the third."Dice was huge in this game," Billups said. "Look at what he did. ... He played great. Always has a tough, tough matchup, man, and he had one tonight. Chris Bosh had been playing so great coming into this game. He knew he had a challenge on his hands and stepped up at the plate."

Dice was a defensive monster. I've always respected his D, but damn. Rock on.

STUDS: Richard Hamilton continues to play at an All-star level, scoring a season-high 39 points in 38 minutes. Chris Bosh had another nice game for the Raptors with 16 points and 11 rebounds.SOLID: There aren't too many players who can score 20 points and only need nine shots to do so, but that's exactly what Chauncey Billups did tonight. Jamario Moon didn't look to shoot much, either, but he still managed to be one of Toronto's scorers with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

DUDS: Jarvis Hayes' shooting slump continues with another underwhelming shooting performance. He had two points on Tuesday, missing four of his five shot attempts.SUPER SUB: Jason Maxiell was back to his old self on Tuesday with eight points and nine rebounds.

UP NEXT: Friday vs. Sacramento. The Kings are one of many NBA squads still trying to establsh an identity. Their biggest problem all season has been injuries. It has forced first-year coach Reggie Theus to play a lot of lineups he did not anticipate having to play so much, together. As for the Pistons, they too the day off on Wednesday and willl return to practice on Thursday.
