OT - Pacerfan passes away from cancer

I 1st saw this on the trade board and then read all the posts on Indy's board. I have only had the chance to talk to him a few times on the trade board and once on the Pacer's board. There are some good stories about how down to earth, humble, and giving he was. This is a very sad day for all of RealGM.
RIP Pacerfan you will be greatly missed.

Very sad news indeed. I'm positive he will be greatly missed by all. Very touching stories from the Pacers board. Does anyone know how old he was, and what type of cancer he had?

Wow...
You just really hate to hear something like this. I mean, he didn't sound terribly old, and he got cancer? That's just awful. I hate hearing about people getting cut-down with so much of their life left.

Don was 65 and died of melanoma.
As you can see from the stories he had lived a full and selfless life and is assuredly resting in paradise.

I read through that thread late last night and was surprised (and pleased) at the impact it had one me. When I was younger I was very involved with my friends and that once-in-a-great-while death of some kid I knew in school but wasn't really friends with had a fairly resounding effect in strangeness as much or more so than in grief as the realization of mortality really sunk in. I admit that I as I got older I did focus a lot more on myself in regard to college, career, marriage and kids, making sure I was doing the right things for me. Now that I'm settled into that 'routine' so to speak, I found last night that the realization of mortality is back and got pretty bleary-eyed reading the thread.
Crap, man. It's tough typing this. I only hope that his family and friends are taken care of and are able to reconcile their emotions and move forward. If there is a heaven, I know he's there.
RIP Pacerfan...missed but never forgotten.

Wow...didn't really know Pacerfan too well either but from the comments I've read, he seemed like a very genuine, caring guy who lead a fulfilling life. May he rest in peace and God bless.
