Ariza?

I know he just got injured for possibly the rest of the year, but I've liked his game. He would be a good backup to Tay. Maybe trade Herrman/Flip for Ariza and the rights to Marc Gasol?

I'd do it.

So would I, but why would the Lakers?

Ariza got injured? What happened to him?

They don't need Flip, seeing how Javaris Crittenton, Derek Fisher, and Jordan Farmar are more or less combo guards.
They are looking to trade for a SF, though, which is the weakest position on their roster (Luke Walton and Lamar Odom, occasionally). They'd probably want two 3's in exchange for Ariza. Hermann and a healthy Vladimir Radmanovic aren't redundant, are they?

Ariza came down on Lamar Odom's foot. Marc Gasol is currently overseas playing.

Dont think we have enough talent to bring in an MVP type player like Ariza. When you look at what KG, AI, Allen and Shaq were all traded for I just dont see how we can get Ariza.

With Andrew Bynum and Chris Mihm already out for the Lakers, L.A.'s front court took another hit. Forward Trevor Ariza, acquired from Orlando on Nov. 20 for Brian Cook and Maurice Evans, fractured a bone in his right foot during practice Sunday and will be out approximately eight weeks.

Ariza was averaging 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in 35 games so far this season. The Lakers expect Kwame Brown to play more minutes in Ariza's absence, including in Monday night's game against the Denver Nuggets. "It's not about his one-on-one defense. It's his team defense that [Denver's Marcus] Camby's renowned for," Lakers coach Phil Jackson told The Los Angeles Times. "We're definitely going to go in to Kwame against Camby. His size and his power against him is obviously a strength that we have."

Los Angeles signed free-agent center DJ Mbenga to a 10-day contract Monday. The 7-footer from the Congo was released by Golden State on Jan. 6. Mbenga was averaging 1.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.63 blocked shots and 8.1 minutes in 16 games with the Warriors. He spent three seasons with Dallas before being waived Oct. 30. He was limited to 21 games last season because of a left foot tendon strain and a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. The Lakers are currently 26-12 this season, good for the fifth-best record in the Western Conference.

We'd have to give up at least Tayshaun, Rip, Amir, and a 1st rounder just to get them to even consider trading him.

It really wasn't meant as a joke. It seems like when he's gotten some minutes he has played ok. I guess the same could be said about Hayes and it might not change much. I guess the only way we get a good backup SF will be to get Artest....

I still would like to go after Rasual Butler. We are really effective when we have a long range shooter off the bench, Jarvis can be that guy but isn't every night, his shooting slumps are horrible but when he's hot, he's hot.

Rasual Butler is a much more polished shooter and more consistent. Basically, Flip likes a guy to come off the bench and launch 3's. Rasual Butler would fill that roll nicely.

I see a lot of people do it. I wonder if most *know* that it's "role". Happens frequently on this board, even.
Wasn't trying to be pretentious.

Seriously though. Hayes is to inconsistent. Can he be trusted from the 2nd rd. to the title to not go cold?

When hes on, hes saunders perfect bench player. When hes typical hayes, hes a black hole (since his D & playmaking sucks)

3 1st round picks, Amir, and Afflalo should get us Ariza, if we play our cards right.
