I think Sheed i slikely going because JON is out and Shaq is hurting (if not out himself) and the East centers sorta suck. Bosh and JSmoove are shoo-in bigs. I only expect one of Billups or Hamilton to go and think Billups will get the nod due to position scarcity. With Arenas out I might have Billups and Calderon my back-up point guards. At the 2-guard - Iguodala, JRich, Dunleavy, and Turkoglu could make a case over Hamilton.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

Caron Butler should be going and Crash has a good case for making his 1st ASG with the numbers he is putting up and how the Cats are doing. Don't think he will make it though as Butler will be the most likely SF backup. Iggy shouldn't get in based on how crappy his team is and other SG's are putting up better numbers while also winning games.

I wonder if Kaman will make it in the West. He is beasting right now (his team is sucking bad though so...) but with Camby and Amare out west don't think it will happen which is too bad.

Ilgauskas will probably get selected ahead of Sheed and that's good. Sheed doesn't want to play anyway.

Sheed is putting up 12.3 PPG.

I can't see him getting in, regardless of whether or not he's better than some of the other guys.

Butler, Bosh, and Pierce all have got to be in IMO. That leaves 4 spots up to debate.

Billups is likely. Jefferson is averaging about 23 PPG which puts his 3rd in the east. I wouldn't mind seeing some new guys. I really hope Vince Carter and Ray Allen don't make it.

I'm just glad Shaq and Grant Hill didn't get selected to the 1st team based on name recognition for many fans.

speaking of all stars and the fact that sheed might have to go to the all star game - and we all know he doesn't want to, is there a post about sheed's new song with some dude - where he has a rhyme he spits - a rhyme about drugs/weed? lol

if it isnt' what is wrong with this board. its on the nba fanhouse blog

i too find it ironic this comes about soon after he said he didn't want to go the all star game - having a rap song about the drugs he likes won't please other coaches and all mighty david stern

Way to go Sheed! http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/01/ ... -purposes/

"Takin' bong hits got me cruisin' in a starship / Kirk and Mr. Spoch got me blowin' up spots"

"Got illegal drug money, got pounds of greens / I'm a grown-a-- man, got no time for bulls--t"

what beautiful poetry!

Hell this deserves it's own thread. Sheed should keep his day job though. Sheed will probably get talked to from the league assuming this is new and all, however there is really nothing they can officially do to him.

Billups is automatic IMO. He should have been picked starting PG.

Its a testement to how little attention Chris Paul is getting outside of NO. He should have been the starter hands down. At least AI kept T-Mac out. Its one thing to get snubbed, but to get snubbed in favor of a guy who IMO shouldnt make the team at all....

The starters should have been:

Howard
KG
James
Billups
Wade

Amare
Duncan
Dirk
Paul
Kobe

Fans actually didnt do that bad in picking the East. If it werent for overating Kidd's triple doubles, theyd be perfect.

In the West fans were about par for the course, IMO only getting two right.

Chauncey is a reserve for sure; he should have been the starting point guard, I mean come on Jason Kidd? What's his team's record, does no one care anymore about the good teams compared to the "struggling" team's Rasheed is also most likely on the team, Rip may, most likely will not.

^Team record's not even the main point with Kidd.

The triple doubles have done a pretty good job disguising the fact that he's having a subpar season and is clearly on the decline. He was never a great shooter, but he's shooting 36% and is barely averaging over 10 ppg.

I assume JSmoove is Josh Smith?

I'd make it:
Kidd/Billups
Wade/Pierce
James/Butler/Jefferson
Garnett/Jamison/Smith
Howard/Bosh

It would appear that this team is undersized (only 4 guards and Bosh at C), but you'd have to keep in mind that Stoudemire is going to backup C for the West and he's truly a PF. Bosh can check him. Howard can handle Ming and Garnett can check Duncan. Lebron/Wade can be gimmicky and play point if/when Kidd/Billups are out of the game.
Paul Pierce and Richard Jefferson have been G-Fs their entire careers.
Josh Smith can play the three middle positions with equal success.

Umm...It's spelled "rapping". I'm not usually a big stickler for spelling, but well, in this case something needed to be said.

^although, the Nets haven't played well enough to warrant two all-stars, so I could see how RJ got snubbed in favor of Gerald Wallace. However, I do NOT want to see Mike Dunleavy or Hedo Turkoglu make the ASgame.
and I would start Chauncey over Kidd if I could.

The West:
Iverson/Paul/Davis
Bryant
Anthony/Howard/McGrady
Duncan/Nowitzki/Boozer
Ming/Stoudemire
Yep. Iverson and Davis can play the 2. So can Josh Howard and McGrady (who is averaging 22/5/5 on a 23-19 team). Duncan and/or Nowitzki can slide over to C if Ming/Stoudemire need to rest.

They havent played well enough to warrant two, but I doubt the coaches will see it that way. Its not RJ's fault the fans stupidly voted Kidd in.

Its not just that he shouldnt be a starter, he shouldnt be on the team. Id love to see Gerald Wallace on the team, but something about him screams snub.

:o I noticed that right away also...

I hear ya about picking on spelling, although I do have one big pet peeve in that department. Using the word 'to' instead of 'too' as in I see it written like that way too often, too much, too many times.

I also have one big grammar peeve, using " instead of ' when what is written is not a quote.

alrighty then, I'm a nutbag, such is life *exhales a cloud of sheed, cough, cough*

I hope the coaches just move Bosh to Center when voting and get a more deserving player in. None of the other East centers should make the team IMO.
