Richard Hamilton wants to compete in the 3-point shootout during All-Star weekend. He's dead serious.

"The only reason I'm so interested in it is because everybody underestimates me, saying I can't shoot 3s," he said. "Since the LB (Larry Brown ) era, they still aren't giving me respect on my 3s. This is my chance to prove them wrong."

Richard Hamilton doesn't want to just be known as the game's premier midrange shooter. He wants to be regarded as the best shooter, period.

Hamilton believes the best way to do that is to win the NBA's annual All-Star 3-Point Shootout. He has never received an invitation to the contest and hopes that will change. "I'm campaigning," he said. "The only reason I'm so interested in it is because everybody underestimates me. Everybody says I can't shoot 3s, since the LB (Larry Brown) era. They're still not giving me my respect for my (long) ball."

Hamilton can make a strong case for himself. He led the league in 3-point percentage two seasons ago and has made 46.7 percent of his 3-pointers this season, good enough for sixth place on the current list.

Hopefully he gets included and does well.

But I won't be at all hurt if A) He isn't invited and B) He stinks it up.

He's been on this for years. I think it's the one source of jealousy between he and Chauncey. :)

How many shooters are there? Six, right? He should definitely be one of them, then, IMO. He may not be as much of a volume shooter and therefore not as well-known as a deepball shooter, as some of the others below him are, but he is certainly efficient and does have a quick release. I'd expect him to do well.
