I know I might be drinking too much these days, but I think Hermann could be a big spurt off the bench. He can defend and he can score. I wish Flip would use him more.

The Pistons have proved that they are for real. They can beat anyone they want on any givent night, but what scares me is what Jeff Van Gundy talked to Flip about Saturday night, they only get up for National TV Games.

A coach is a motivator and he needs to get his team up for every game. When these guys are locked in they are as good as it gets. It is time for them to get locked in all the time.

On a side note, it is so much fun being a Pistons fan living in Chicago. I told all my co-workers and friends that they over paid for Benedict Arnold Wallace. They did not believe me, but look what they have in year two of the deal... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ben deserves this, he was a greedy A$$...

I also love the fact that the Heat suck. Maybe Riley should retire again. Shaq is washed up and D Wade no longer gets the phantom calls. The league likes Lebron to much.

Sorry for the rant. I would love to see thePistons go 6-0 in there next six gmes. A lost in any of those games would be unacceptab

I could see us choosing to keep Herrmann over Hayes this off-season, but we'll never play Herrmann over Hayes this season barring an injury.

It's nice to have the depth, but Tay will probably play 48 mpg in the playoffs, so it won't matter.

I'm starting to think that Hayes will end up the odd man out.
A recent quote from Flip on Hermann "He did what he always does, he played hard, I think Walter can play in this league, and for us."
Hayes may be on display right now... shine up the chrome... say some good things in the press (Joe's NBA.COM interview ) and ship his rusty ass out... enter Walter.

The segment I saw on him during the holidays showed him picking out gifts for his teammates, he did alright with that. Who knows though maybe Herrmann is better at that also.

The only reason I can see is that Jarvis puts up more shots than Walter (doesn't shoot better, but chucks up more shots). Walter can shoot though. He's also a very nice passer and can play defense on PF's (something Jarvis struggles with). If Dice/Sheed/Max get into foul trouble, Walter could (potentially) set up and defend PFs in a pinch.

Walter plays hard every game he gets to play and seriously sounds like he just wants to be involved with a winning team that is all about team work. Jarvis came here looking to up his stock because he's noticed that other players have.I was okay with that though. I thought he would come in with a chip on his shoulder, instead he's very inconsistent and sometimes downright awful.

Truth be told, when Jarvis has his jumper on, he's just outstanding. His jumper is not 'on' though when we need him the most.

Both are free agents (although there is some confusion on if Herrmann is restricted or not), but if Walter could get some playing time here as backup SF, I could see him being re-signed next year cheaply over Jarvis who is probably looking for more of a teams MLE than Walter would demand.

I like Herrmann, i just wish Flip could find him more minutes to play him.

The main reason they only get up for games on National TV is because those are the teams that are proven winners. They need fans when they get to the playoffs. Van Gundy was right, but at least they are showing they can turn it on when they play on National TV. Good thing most of their playoff games will be on National TV.

In regards to Herrmann, wait until the end of the season. If he's not dealt, Flip will use him once Detroit clinches the #2 seed. Then he'll earn his pt over Jarvis Hayes.

i still don't get it why Flip uses him at PF exclusivly...Jarvis D is medicore at best, Hermann might be a bit slow for a fast wingplayer, but his defense should be just fine, at least not worse than Jarvis, even at SF...

I think Hayes is a lot faster on D than Hermann. I was focusing on Hayes for a few minutes in the Dallas game, and he was a whip going around picks and following his man--he just doesn't make the best decisions defensively, and his lateral speed is questionable. Still, Hermann looks a lot slower overall. I've been wrong before, though.

Flip's playbook was only designed for 8 players to play on any given night if foul trouble does not rear its ugly head.


The T-wolves 9-12 players did not have the skills to be on the floor except in a blowout.

IMO Flip is overwhelmed by the stresses and strains of standing up the whole game yelling out what spots the players should be on the floor to even notice how his sets bring out the worse in his 5-12 players.

Mr McNice playing 32 minutes a game on those knees just might get someone in the Piston's organization a fine for cruel and unusual punishment by the All-Star break.

...Or passing. In his last 11 games, Jarvis has 4 assists (137 minutes).

Hermann has 6 (76 minutes).

I think Hermann could play the 4 with his speed, but not the 3. However, 4s are taller than him usually, so that would be a problem

Players always look better in garbage minutes. The fact is he wasnt good enough to really crack the bobcats lineup and unless he improves a ton he will only be a garbage time player but to say right now his is better than Hayes because of what he does when its a blowout is ridiculous. Hayes is inconsistant but when his jumper is there he is a great addition and lets face it Hayes should only be judged by his play in the playoffs. If he struggles then, i will agree but its regular season hes not an elite player and people have some good nights and bad nights when they get inconsitant minutes.
