Rip will get owned. He's a good rhythm shooter and has good 3-point shot selection, but I don't think he has the touch to compete with those guys. I'd love to be proven wrong though!

Let him have his fun. It will improve his shot from the wings. :)

RIP will kill it, he never misses when his feet are set and he is open. Plus his quick release will be an advantage.

Hopefully he'll do better than Billups did.

This will be good for Rip, he actually shoots well when he's open. And unless I didn't hear the new rule implemented... he won't have to worry about defenders in this shoot out.

Let Rip have his fun, whether he wins or loses.

Endurance may be an issue. I know Rip takes thousands of shots a day, but not from that range. I hope he does well though.

Kobe Bryant will take part in the 3-point shooting contest at All-Star weekend against a field that includes defending champion Jason Kapono and the last repeat winner, Peja Stojakovic.

Steve Nash, Detroit All-Star Richard Hamilton and Cleveland's Daniel Gibson also were chosen Wednesday to take part in the event, which will be held Feb. 16 in New Orleans during All-Star Saturday night. Bryant will try to add the 3-point title to the dunk championship he won as a rookie in 1997. He is shooting 35 percent from behind the arc this season.

Kapono signed with Toronto in the offseason and is shooting 51 percent from 3-point range. He won last year in Las Vegas while playing for Miami, falling just shy of the event record with a 24 in the final round. Stojakovic, from the hometown Hornets, won the event in 2002-03 while playing for Sacramento and was the runner-up in 2004.

Yeah, good to see some big names participating. No offense to Jason Kapono...but I could care less about watching him.

I wish we could get the big names back into the dunk contest though.

This is why I am glad the Pistons kept Rip all these years. He wasn't that great of a defender or 3 point shooter before and keeps working to get better every year. The first year he was with the Pistons he average .269% on 119 shots. Now, he is competing in the 3 point contest. He is every bit important to the Pistons as any other player to me and has a decent contract for his contributions. I am proud for the Mofo

Pistons guard Rip Hamilton will compete in the Three-Point Shootout on Saturday, Feb. 16 during All-Star Weekend at New Orleans.

The event will be televised live on TNT, which begins its Feb. 16 coverage at 8 p.m. Others in the Three-Point Shootout are Kobe Bryant (Lakers), Daniel Gibson (Cleveland), Steve Nash (Phoenix), Peja Stojakovic (New Orleans) and Jason Kapono (Toronto), the defending champion.

Chauncey Billups was the last Piston in the event, finishing sixth in 2004.
